I bought a hosting package from HostGator on Black Friday with the hope that they have improved in services. I got the confirmation email also with account/cpanel details. Suddenly they have stop the account with any intimation , I try to call them , Chat with support , no response , open the ticket . no response . at last after waiting of 10 h on chat support some one responded me that that they need scan copy of my credit card and Govt id . I had sent them. Again no response for next 16 H. I tried their chat support, aftert wait for 2 H . I got the answer to call at extension to activate the account.

when I call them , they says you took the account from VPS server so we are cancelling the account. its really frustrating situation.

Hostgator can f... can one . please don't buy any thing from them.

+1 for Hostwinds. Top-notch support and fast servers.

Agreed! I just moved from them to Hostwinds - and their service is phenomenal - I provided them with a review here :)

I agree they were very unprofessional. Well, in case you need new hosting you can go with 4goodhosting.com. Their support has been very fast and helpful. When you contact them via email, ticket or phone they will immediately respond. Trust me. Their hosting service is reliable and stable. Just try to contact them and I am sure you wont regret.

Hostgator is $9 bucks hosting, you should expect $9 quality.

If you want a dedicated support guy 24x7 and high end hosting prepare to pay $300 a month minimum.

This^^^

Everyone bags on HG....but I am willing to be it is the people with $1 hosting. You get what you pay for.

I have a few dedicated servers and the one with HG has never had an issue. Pay $279 with HG for a dedi or $300 for a liquidweb dedi and you won't have issues.

With 5,345,363,343,356 sites on those shared hosting $1 accounts what do you expect? People are under the impression that web hosting should just cost $1 a month.

Thing is I wasn't paying $9 - I was paying $200; and still waited over a week for a response.

That really sucks mate. You should've torn them a new arse. Move to Hostwinds. At first i never got the hype but now i have a few accounts with them and totally love it.

I've been with hostgator for 2 years and they was one of the BEST support I've seen. Fast forward to a couple of months ago and their support is phenomenally shit. They hardly have any support employees/technicians, a lot of downtime, 1 day ticket responses and just overall a shit experience. Thinking about moving away from Hostgator but can't find any that are up to my standards.

They had good reviews in the past - what happened to them?

I paid $42- for resale hosting and that sucked to, i had about 10 html/css and 5 WP sites on that hosting, they had a combine traffic of 2500 visitors per month and i had my account disabled numerous times for overusing their resources, these where just simple sites that i build when i started my IM career (my fisrt earners) , i wanted to keep those for sentimental value.

And when i asked support what is the recourse limit, i get a vague answer you can use 25% of ......??? and that it was better for me to upgrade to their overpriced VPS plans, so it isn't just the $9- hosting that sucks. Now i am with asmalorange.com (no affaliation) and now my sites are save again.

And a good hosting doesn't have to cost $300- a month,

HG managed by new owners who trying to get more and more money so that they can Soon get back every buck they paid for this venture ...However they act like the boss who grants hosting service to their clients ...

I use StableHost and their support team is AMAZING. They ALL know their stuff really well. I've got their cheapest plan, but they always treat me like a premium customer.

You can try MDDHosting too. But they are a little bit more expensive.

I would have tried Hostwinds, but when I contacted Peter (the guy who represents Hostwinds on BHW; probably the owner too) on Skype with a question, he responded after 3 months with a "hey", and when I said "Hi", he disappeared again (it's been nearly 3 months since the "hey" too).

I signed up with StableHost after a lot of research and I don't think I'm ever changing my web host.

Buying hosting at hostgator and expecting good service/support is like buying 10,000 real fans on fiverrr for $5 and expecting REAL fans ;)

Last time i have sign up for 1 cent plan in hostgator, they asked me for id proof.Hostgator is a worst hosting company in the world.

Well, all EIG companies are bad. Avoid them if you don't want to waste your time!

yes, they have the courteous and friendly customer service but their waiting time sucks.
