Journey to $1500/Month With KDP, Apple iBooks and more Before 31 March 2024

Thanks.

The number of books does not necessarily correlate with an increase in earnings. The quality of the book is much more important. In my opinion, if you focus on this aspect, you can achieve higher profits. For example, in December 2023, I earned $150 from one of my books, and I would advise against creating low-quality content.
Are you running ads

How much are you spending on ads daily and how long is your store running and. Also the book age
If you read the conversation from the beginning, I already gave general answers to these questions.

I probably prepared the book I mentioned as an example about 3 or 4 months ago.

Okay thanks I wait a little while because most of the 60 recent books are just 6 weeks old

I didn’t remember to ask are majority of your books kindle edition or paperback

Happy New Year!

The total earnings for this month are $1348.18.
In December 2022, I had earned $420. In December 2023, however, I earned $1348, which represents an increase of more than threefold. Therefore, I consider myself successful at the moment. However, I am also aware that I will experience some declines as the new year effect wears off (around 40% decrease). Additionally, I now have a new goal. My target for December 2024 is $2600.

Another goal of mine is to start a subscription-based website. It will focus on digital products. For this purpose, I have applied for company incorporation in the UK today (Because I can't use stripe in Turkey), and it should be finalized within 1-2 days. I will need to arrange banking, website, and other processes for about 1-2 months, and then I will incorporate this into my journey. I plan to prepare three types of subscriptions. There will be three subscription types: $9.99 (monthly), $99 (annual), and $299 (lifetime). For this subscription website, my goal for December 2024 is to have an average of 110 monthly subscribers or a regular income of around $1000 per month.

To summarize, my overall goal for December 2024 is to reach a total of around $3600.

You can ask me all your suggestions, questions, everything. I'm waiting for your answers.

The total earnings for this month are $892.67.

There was a decrease in the expected range this month. I was anticipating such a decrease after the new year. There was a decrease of about 34%. Apart from that, I have completed the process of establishing a limited company in the United Kingdom, prepared all the necessary documents, and opened 2 bank accounts. Next, I will start organizing my website for my subscription site, which will take me about a month. So, if there are no setbacks, I will include my subscription site in my journey starting from March.

I had previously prepared a blog related to travel with my friend, but then I decided to give up on it. However, I have now decided to restart this journey by starting a more general travel blog on January 13th. I will try to run this process solely through affiliate marketing (mylead, indoleads, travelpayouts). My goal for this journey is for it to generate a monthly income of $1000 after 1 year. I will be adding about 2-3 blog posts every day. (I haven't made any money from this site yet.)

My food for thought for aspiring KDP inforpreneurs:

If you look at umo98's chart above, you can see:
1 - he is earning close to $700: that's GREAT!
2 - he does not mention how much he spends on content / cover creation or ads/ You need to substract those expenses from the $700.
3 - Then remove the taxes. How much is left net in his pocket?
4 - Also, look at his number of books published to reach that: 894. Quite un-manageable in terms of optimizing your ads, costs, etc. I assume most of those books are low-content and less than 10-20% of them are responsible for 80% of the earnings.

Thanks. You have almost accurate analyses. I've been running ads in all countries, and I hadn't felt the need to specify unless it exceeded $100. However, for example, last month, I spent $95 on advertising.
I've been using Canva and artificial intelligence to create book covers for about 2 months now. I used to use only Canva. For this, I use ChatGPT + Canva (ChatGPT costs $20 per month, and Canva Pro costs $2 per month in my country).

Since Amazon is located in the USA and I conduct Amazon KDP activities with my Turkish company, the taxations are as follows:
Amazon automatically withholds taxes for sales made from the USA, Japan, Australia, and Canada, at a rate of 10%. (Other countries = %0) However, there is a tax exemption for foreign income in my country.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of my books consist of low-content books. This is my mistake. The number of high-content books is quite low. (I think the number of high-content books could be around 100-150). I constantly remind others not to focus on highly competitive low-content books.

So, to summarize, after deducting taxes and advertising expenses from my earnings of $892 last month, the amount left to me is $743.

In my UK company, I am currently only running my subscription site. It is not included in this table because it has not started operating yet.

Thanks for the great update. Much appreciated.

Do you:
1. use ARC reader or things like this or do you have a following on social media or newsletter suscriber? If not, how do you guarantee a successful launch and not a book disappearing into the depths of Amazon?
2. publish in English? Turkish? All?
3. create your high-content books by yourself?

How long have you been doing so and how long did it take to reach the $500 / month target?

Not sure to understand how the tax exemption works? Do you still have to pay taxes on your earnings in Turkey? Do you have a full-time job at company next to your online activities or is KDP your full-time job?

1) I don't even know what an ARC reader is. Back when I didn't have money for advertising, I used to promote my books for free in some Facebook groups. Now, I only run ads. Sometimes, if you focus on topics with very little competition, you don't even need advertising or promotion.

2) The majority of my books are in English, but I also have a few in Turkish and other languages.

3) I prepare my high-content books myself, but I also get help from artificial intelligence on some subjects.

I don't have any customers from Turkey, so I don't pay taxes for that (this tax is called value-added tax in my country, but it may have a different name in every country, I don't know). (Of course, there are some fixed taxes monthly, which are around $10 per month, this is a tax I have to pay to the Republic of Turkey) In my country, there is a three-year exemption rule for young entrepreneurs. (income tax) I don't need to explain it in detail, but maybe there are similar rules in the country you live in, I don't know. I also have an experienced accountant in my company, so I can learn all tax issues from him, I don't think I made a mistake about taxes, I also have the option to physically go to the tax office or send an email to get information. The part where I had trouble was that payment infrastructures like stripe, paypal, etc. couldn't be used with a Turkish company, so I set up a company in the UK. I conduct all my activities except the subscription site through the company I established in Turkey.

I reached my goal of $500 per month in November 2023, but I made some big mistakes, like insisting on low-content books. I think it's a goal that could normally be achieved in 9-12 months. If I had the current knowledge and experience I have now when I started my kdp journey, I would probably have reached the $500 goal in 6-9 months.

To be honest, I really like to see realistic journeys, not like the journey of

'I'M GONNA EARN 100K IN 30 DAYS!!!' man stfu.

Bro doesn't have a clear plan for earning $1k, but he's thinking about becoming a millionaire in 30 days.

So just keep it up, you're almost achieving this goal.

I actually started writing in 2022 having published 3 books I didn’t write for a whole year, didn’t even check the Kdp dashboard until I checked 4 months ago and noticed I heard 10 sales but payments were withheld because I didnt complete tax info. I got back to writing in November 2023 after seeing this thread now I have 160 books. My current earning still very low January 12 dollars and feb is 22dollars. I am not giving up I do believe it will pick up after a while. I am running ads spending 2 dollars a day. I plan to increase adspend to 5 dollars later. I am in canada and cost of living here is so high so I had to focus on my full time job and write at night when I am home.

I'm glad to hear you're back on your journey. It's not always easy to navigate challenges, but I believe things will improve for you too. Regarding advertising in dollars due to currency depreciation, I faced similar hurdles initially. However, with time, I found ways to overcome them. If you're producing low-content books, consider allocating more time to cover design and focusing on niche areas with less competition. For instance, last month, I published a notebook with this approach in mind, which took about an hour to prepare. Currently, this notebook generates $15 monthly and has earned a five-star rating. Nonetheless, I recommend prioritizing high-content books as your main focus.

I would also like to follow your journey.
