Hi all,

I have a quick question, about a certain action that I've been doing with most of my articles.

With most of the images inside my article, their "alt tags" and "picture names" have the primary keyword of the article in them all.

Knowing this, will that hurt my article's SEO? and Potentially affect its ranking badly? Just want to make sure that it won't be flagged as spam by Google.

Thank you

I do the same for one of my websites and never had any issues. It should be fine if the image is relevant. But keep in mind not to post a cat pic and use "keto diet" as alt tag.

It is fine, it will not have a negative effect.

Thanks man, that's good to know :)

Sound advice! Of course, I'll keep each nomination relevant to the context of the picture!

Big sites do this and they seem to get away with it.. of course big sites get a pass most of the time for things that’d hurt small sites

No, you won't be facing issues because of adding Alt tag images for your articles and blogs. Moreover, it is really a very good practice to add at least a keyword once in the alt tags as well because this will enhance the chances to get the images ranking as well. Many times I have seen some blogs is not ranking but on the other hand, images that were used in that blog got ranking.

As long as you maintain relevance, it won't hurt your SEO, everyone does that, but make sure, don't overdo it.

No, it won't have any negative effect, as this practice is pretty common and even recommendable, so keep going with it, without any worry.

Thank you guys, that is really great to know! I appreciate your input! This takes away a lot of worry! Thanks to you I know how to proceed now :)

That's fine... You can do Image SEO before uploading to WP. Just go to image properties and fill all the columns. It will increase your chance of ranking high on google image.

No. It won't hurt.

In fact, it should help you.

Just one tip though: make sure the picture name (file name) is different from the alt tag. Using the same kw for both might seem spammy.

Ouch, I am doing that with all the images of my sites. How can they be different, because I name the image by it's content/context, and the alt tag should also address the same.

So how would you go about it in my place?
