Case Study: EMD That Made Me $40,000

What internal anchors did you use for all the supporting article?
60% Exact anchors, rest were LSI, partial KWs and stuff like read more, check here. etc

if you don't mind can you share which off-page techniques are you using for this project?
It was same as you may already be aware. Some forums, some guestposts(Only relevant), Web 2.0s(GSA Blast) etc

Was the typo just in the domain or do you have included it also in the support articles?
We had it in the domain and also included it time and again in supporting articles.

This is exactly the type of case studies I like published on BHW. Thank you for this and keep up the work!

I'm assuming you'll continue to do something along these lines moving forward? Seems to be working well and be worth your time.
Thanks Sweely, Welcome :) Yes i have one more case study coming up soon. Like I said, I have been helped by so many smart people. Time to give back :)

Do you think it was more due to the fact that it was an EMD or just a low competition keyword or below... and a bit of both?

You did everything right in regards to content, setting up SILOS, clustering, link building etc. so it's obviously hard to pin-point it on the EMD (which I know you didn't)...But just curious the true value of an EMD compared to a high authority site. Take the keyword 'buy stocks,' you'd need to do a lot more work than just an EMD to rank on page 1.

I would probably guess that if you did everything again with an unrelated domain you'd see similar results... I need to do some testing on EMD's as I'm a data guy but interested in your thoughts!
Hey Bud

I think we focused more on it as a regular site. We had already seen several one pages EMDs already ranking before we dived in. So the decision to go with an EMD was just natural. However our focus to grow it was like any other website. Google has been considering EMDs as shady but again if you follow the rule books, you should be fine. I believe EMDs don't really get that huge of an advantage these days, (They may just instill a natural curiosity among the user to click thus your CTR is just one thing that gets +ve), rest you have to treat it as any other website.

:Dliterally I was thinking one day to build this type of niched site but was thinking the click ration won't be good but after reading this I'll do
Awesome, Please go ahead

Wishing you success

By the way u didn't mentioned the recent revenue what happend to your site? Affected by update?
No Sir, Not affected by any update, Including the recent May update :)

Infact, it only spiked the traffic by 30%

Not necessarily, if the keyword is a spelling error it's generally not going to have much competition for that exact keyphrase. PLUS, everything else was spot on in regards to content, setting up SILOS, clustering, link building etc. which for any medium to low competition keyword is going to produce results...

So it's obviously hard to pin-point it on the EMD itself, I don't think having the keyword in your name necessarily has any advantage. Google is smarter than that, they're looking at the entire site for relevance..

Not trying to shit on this parade, but the the whole 'EMD Case Study' thing is a bit misleading... it all comes down to matching user intent and creating high-quality content. The other thing that becomes tricky are anchor texts

If you search "online free movies" you're not getting low quality sites with exact or similar matched domains. Just do a bit of research on Search Engine Watch or Journal, it's all been discussed before!! Cheers.
Sorry Brother for the Misleading title. I just thought since its an EMD and most people don't want to attempt it, I thought to have a title that can speak for itself.

That's some great info.
Let's assume your website is lencable.com
So, whenever you mention lan cable in your articles, do you write len cable or lan cable?
And while building internal links do you build link to home page from len cable or lan cable?

Thanks.

Depends on the correct way its used for my target audience. if Lan cable is what they use in US, vice versa.

While building internal links, it will be the KW for which i want to rank and it also depends on the volume. In my niche, we did this,

Rest Web pages>Correct Keyword>Wrong Keyword (Flow of Links)

Thanks for your Case Study. How long will you begin to build your backlink for your site?

In the head, we treated it as any other website. The anchors were naturally diversified as in 60% as exact anchor, rest were LSI, Partial terms, Read More, Check Out, etc
I thought it would be different for EMD so curious about it. Thanks, buddy for your confirmation! I really appreciate it!

"Rest Web pages>Correct Keyword>Wrong Keyword (Flow of Links)"

Can you explain this with an example?

"Rest Web pages>Correct Keyword>Wrong Keyword (Flow of Links)"

Can you explain this with an example?

Sure,

Tier 2 Article: Is Consuming CBD safe for a cat
Tier 1 Articles: Everything to know about CBD for Cat
Main Article: 10 Best CBD Oil for Cats

For wrong Keyword,it would be

Tier 2 Article: Why do people Mistype ______? (In blank, its the wrong keyword)
Tier 1 Article: Everything to know about _______? (Correct Keywords in blanks)
Main Article: Wrong Keyword- (wrote everything about it)

Now Tier 2 links to Tier 1 and tier 1 does it to Main article
