Does GoDaddy use your searches against you?

Please you have any idea on how to transfer a domain from Goddady to another registrar? I have tried this a couple of times but to no avail, did some Google search yet no useful detailed guide, I tried contacting them, they seem not be responding to my emails.

I'm afraid my domain is expiring anytime soon, and I don't plan to renew with them.
To transfer out any domain with any registrant, you need first to unlock the domain, request the authorization code, go to your preferred registrant and select the transfer domain option, past your domain and autho code.

I do not use Godaddy any more.
Not reliable provider at all.

They do a bunch of shady stuff, like sending you incorrect auth codes when you try to transfer a domain out of their registrar.

Absolutely, I gone insane trying to transfer the domain recently.

This is getting frustrating now.

I search Godaddy for some possible domains. Leave. Come back after some mins. The domain's gone. It's unavailable.

Happened more than a couple of times. I don't think it's mere coincidence.

Ever happened to any of you?

Is the domain expired with good links?
Did you check the whois for those domains?

they priced my domain (the one they stole from me )at 1200£

Happened to me too. I didnt renewed on time and my 10$ domain which was having Rank 1 for my 7 KW's were priced at 220$.
Also noticed this, If you have a credit card from Canada, you can get the domain for 1$ and the same domain they are selling for 8$-12 $ to others. May be due to ionos, dont know

i have to use for some auctions, compared to same thing done by namesilo, there is like 100% difference in pricing.

I have done that already, but no authorization code was provided, that was my main issue.

Hello

I would advice everyone to transfer you domains from godaddy to other registrar asap like internetbs or someone who is small in size and protects you.

Also whoever is in your contact please spread this message that dont buy any domain from godaddy. They are the most shitty registrar.

They overprice domain , they make you fool, they suspend your domain, they lock your transfer, they dont answer emails when they dont want.

Now the time has changed there are many registrar who respects their customers, some of them also accept crypto payments.

Yes - never do a domain whois search unless you're ready to buy it. And never do domain research on GoDaddy - they either buy it themselves or they're giving someone/some company access to recent searches. There's a tendency for dictionary worded domains to get purchased and squatted within 24-48 hours.

There was some research done on this like 7 years ago, I'll see if I can find it - but they found that GoDaddy, Tucows and a few other registrars were engaging in domain squatting in attempts to squeeze startups. They could never tie it back to GD because of their whois privacy, but it happened so frequently that either GD was doing it intentionally or someone internally was maliciously using the data.

Well, that's what you should expect
I remember when the offer .com for 0.99 USD a year, it was epic, they stopped it because people just buy domain name, and stop using it after a year,
But still they offer upto 50% discount

This is easy for us to test. If you want to participate go lookup the following domains and we'll see how long they remain available.

happened multiple times ... careful what u type into godaddy
these fuckers also raised the prices of two word domains like crazy lol ... you used to be able to get these domains for peanuts but now you have to pay a couple grand for almost every 2 words .com

why dont you guys just use some local domain/hosting seller, I already notice the pattern (their scamming) since 2010.

I can imagine them doing what you said. They would probably kill an elephant for a three figures worth four letter domain.

There are many reports in two major domain name forums. It happened to me also.
