They are a shady company. You can expect anything from them. Since their No. 1 status is gone, they have become a deceiver.
They are sending wrong authorization codes to prevent you from transferring the domain to other registrars.
There renewal fees is double as compared to other registrars.
Never ever buy any product from them, you would regret later on.

They've been known to do this for many years, and often the perfect domain you'd searched for yesterday is now a premium priced one.

There are a lot of options out there. I usually search directly the whois of a domain or use a tool like instantdomainsearch.com
Never use GoDaddy to search any domains

I have found the same more than once. Never do a search with them as they will offer at a highly inflated price if you don't take it right away....
And just yesterday another reason not to use them
GoDaddy, the internet domain registrar and web hosting company, has reported a ‘security incident’ in which an attacker gained access to users’ SSH accounts, potentially affecting its 19 million customers.........
SC Magazine reported that the actual breach took place in October last year but was only discovered on April 23 2020 – meaning attackers had access for over half a year.
“It is astonishing that GoDaddy was unable to detect unauthorised access to SSH account credentials for about eight months," says LogRhythm Labs chief information security officer and vice president James Carder....

I agree they use some algorithm to track keywords, brandable names and price them premium.
I believe even when just simply few people searched for same domain it captures the count and increases the demand for the domain by holding them at GD.

Yeah. I've used them only once for purchasing. Stopped searching domains through them a while back. Unfortunately, my team member didn't.

I don't think there's any foolproof way (let me know if there is). You just gotta try tools like namecheckr.com. Once you're sure what you want, try affordable options like ionos.com. Domains with a bundled package start at $1.

Please you have any idea on how to transfer a domain from Goddady to another registrar? I have tried this a couple of times but to no avail, did some Google search yet no useful detailed guide, I tried contacting them, they seem not be responding to my emails.
I'm afraid my domain is expiring anytime soon, and I don't plan to renew with them.
