Shopify Dropshipping using AliExpress One product store | Let's go

Thank you wish you success with this journey. DO you have a plan to buy product in bulk and than build a brand for it? like label it or print your logo in your package.

I've done this with Amazon FBA and failed. I'm sticking with dropshipping. If I have a product that's selling like crazy then I could private label it but that's only something optional. It's a fun idea and could be a fun portfolio to show a potential employer. If you have the buyer audience Lookalike and it's solid and you really want to private label then that's when you could do it and have a better start but if you're asking if I have plans to just blindly go in to private labeling without first dropshipping and learning the right audience then I've done just that already and failed. The product I'm selling can be private labeled and I can make a unique brand around it but I must first figure out the winning audience for this product niche and then from there I can cross sell niche related products to that audience using FB ads. If you plan to private label then I wish you the best of luck. I've failed my first try at that and wasted money. It's a tough game.

Good luck for your journey and really some great piece of advises already you poured in this thread.

Good luck mate!

Thanks guys!

I will recommend few tweaks in the Facebook Campaigns.

Create Separate campaigns for Facebook and Instagram. This way you will know which one is performing better.
There are different ad sizes for Instagram, do check that also.
If possible, create different campaigns based on location so that you can increase bidding for that country.
Try catalog ads to show multiple variations of same product.

I am really inspired by your journey till now.

I understand exactly what you're saying! I'm only using the conversion campaign and set my ad set to purchase. I have this one audience who happens to buy the product I'm selling. My last conversion campaign started declining in results so I just made a new one with a higher budget. I never created any targeted ad sets to go for this platform or only but just that country. It's good advice to take but right now for me, I'm seriously just throwing money into one creative, one ad set, targeting e-packet countries, with lowest bid possible.

My main goal with this low effort venture is to score 100 - 200 sales just to make a lookalike and then after that I'll seriously do the same thing with a larger budget till it's a really good buying audience. After that I could definitely start testing everything out just like how you say. Most of my sales are from Australia and I would like to do the micro targeting within certain countries and split test platforms with specific made creatives. I just don't want to do that till the store is making me a lot more money. This is just a side thing right now but I still hope the best with it. If I start failing some with this new made campaign I can do some micro targeting but I have to wait several more days so the ads can learn before I judge.

I really like your thinking and that makes being a marketer something more than just doing simple stuff. I'm keeping my investment low regarding effort and money for now. So I'm taking a more lazy route for now.

I've noticed that all my sales are generally from Instagram. It's pretty much the only platform scoring sales on other stores I watch too. Instagram is the money pot!

I read some of your journey and I wonder if you was only targeting USA? Right now I target E-packet countries and most of my sales are from Australia. Just scored a sale from Norway earlier today which was my first ever sale to Norway.

I have just created a new campaign for conversions because my last conversion campaign started dying for some reason. I think when you edit a lot the campaign dies/dips down. So I made a new one with a higher daily ad spend. I make in sales $100/day and just a bit over it. My goal is to make $800 in sales within one month. My other goal is to just make 100 - 150 sales to have enough to make a lookalike audience based on those conversions. My adset is set to purchase and NOT ad to cart. I'd never allow my ad to learn to just score add to carts bc I want purchases.

I started this store during the coronavirus outbreak and news publicity. I will try to get this store going up in sales even though USA isn't buying my product.

Will you hire a programmer to make a professionally looking landing page or use one of the templates?

Good luck. Im following this

Thanks man!

Will you hire a programmer to make a professionally looking landing page or use one of the templates?

I'm using a template. I will never hire anybody or pay for a better template. Be sure what you're doing will make money before you invest into it. Start at the lowest price possible and when you learn you can make money then you need to make enough money flow that guarantees you a reason to invest more. EX: If you make $500/day and believe investing $100+ on your landing page will help convert higher than $500/day then go for it. I'm never going to recommend someone to invest their hard earned money into a setup unless you're already making money and know it will help get more money.

My setup with this journey thread was a free shopify theme and free Oberlo app. I created a FB and IG business page. Those two are free too! I only paid for the FB ads, AliExpress products once I get a order, and the Shopify plan. Those 3 are my expenses.

My ad copy that I have was downloaded from AliExpress and modified using a free video editor software to make it look like a meme styled video (has words at top of video).

Hope you have a better understanding about this. Don't let someone fool you into hiring them build you some magic sales funnel. That's a lie. If he was so good at building magic then why's he offering you to do this "easy work"? Sales funnel, logo, content, ad copies are all easy work. That's what you can do on your own. It's free stuff. The only thing that's actually work is marketing and making solid sales everyday. Allowing FB pixel and it's algorithm to learn your audience is the work. You can have a piece of crap sales funnel and still make sales. I've used an ads spy and found a awful shopify site. The ads engagement was insane and the site looked like a 10 year old made it. They must of been making sales or they wouldn't be paying for ads. Their ad had over 30k engagements.

I completely agree with you talking about simple funnels. I personally develop various websites and started to see that fancy design have no big impact to sales. Good luck!

How long are you into dropshipping?

What is estimated delivery time for the product which are you selling?

I'm not a pro dropshipper and only have about a few small projects with it. It's been off and on for 2 years. Failing and stopping everything and getting into something else but coming back to it with more hope. This one store that's in this journey is one that I'm going to push with my money for awhile to see if it will workout or not.

This product will probably take a month on average to get anywhere but I found in the reviews USA customer saying 2 weeks.

How long your products can be shiped to usa during these days?
Between two weeks to a full month. I checked the reviews on the AliExpress listing and found someone saying one month and another said took two weeks.

Love it. I also start with minimum investment and test things out. I'm doing ads for some local eCommerce shops, and the "ugliest" ones, performe way better. It's because they are simple af, no distraction to the user. Good luck OP. And btw, isn't there any problem with corona virus stuff?

Thanks for the luck and yeah simple does help conversions because people need simple to understand how to navigate through the site. Regarding coronavirus, I have only one sale from USA but people from Australia, hongkong, & Japan are still buying from my store and my AliExpress vendor is still shipping the items everyday. I do think once the news moves on to another topic I'll get more sales but I won't know if it will be from the news moving to another topic or my ads learning my audience better.

Update Time
Just letting everyone know that I made only 2 sales yesterday and that made me know RIGHT away that my ads was NOT ready for $60/day. What I just now did was made a whole new campaign once again (This is the third time) and making the daily spend $30/day. My creative and audience is all the same. This will be my last remake of campaigns. I make a new one to dodge any Facebook slowdowns within the ad budgeting process. Let's hope for the best as now I'm going to let this new campaign (once approved) just sit and learn from conversions. I hope this works out to the fullest because if not then I know FB likes someone else more than me...

Thank you!

I'll look into it and see what I can learn.

i target all epacket countries. specifically 30 countries

Something little that works like magic for me. Create a new ad for $1 with custom audience -> People who "Add to cart" last 14 days but did not purchase, and set the ad for "Traffic". You won't feel it in your pocket, but it will convert some abandoned carts.

Update
Being honest now, this store of mine is now in the negatives but by -$20 through -$30 (Roughly). That includes the Shopify fee, domain, and everything all together but I may actually have broke even but I still have to do all the figures to be sure. My New bad habit of creating Campaigns is the cause of the money being thrown away in the Facebook river of wasted ad spend. I created that one $60/day but then disabled it and remade it into a $30/day because of bad results. That's why I went down under water. Now I still do have that $30/day campaign up and running and will keep it up and running. It's only made me 4 sales though but that's okay with me for now as it needs to learn and I need to let it do it's job. I just made a brand new crazy test campaign that will be for $10/day but it's a way for me to micro test a few countries together who's been buying from me the most. The new crazy test campaign is for a certain age range and ePacket countries that has previously purchased from me. As of right now my biggest consumer is Australia. Just an hour ago I plugged in Google Analytics and set it up with my Shopify dropship store. I did turn on the Enhanced Ecommerce Reporting features to test that out and learn what it can help me understand about my site visitors. If that Enhanced Ecommerce Reporting feature can help me out then that would be great but we will have to just see about that.

My main goal is to reach $800 in sales within one month. I believe I can get there but I must stop disabling campaigns that's bringing me sales. After that $800 in sales goal is reached the next goal is to get 100 sales total (Recorded by Facebook Pixel). I really want to make a 100 sales BUT I must be making a somewhat of a profit while getting there and I don't want to waste too much money along the way. The 100 sales mark is when I will create a lookalike audience based on those 100 sales and will make a new campaign to target that lookalike audience (LLA) I've noticed Facebook Pixel has not recorded all my sales so far so at the point when I hit 100 sales I still need to do a few more for Facebook Pixel.

Oberlo never takes in these Hong Kong addresses the right way and I always am fixing them. Oberlo is an app that is free to use on Shopify and there is a Chrome browser extension that you can download for free that will auto fill your customer shipping and orders into AliExpress.

Most of all my sales are from Instagram

  • Placements are manual and are set to only Facebook & Instagram news feed
