It's been my experience over the last 4 years that I've been running adult sites (7 running sites in general) that my gay sites (especially one in particular more so than the other, but both of them are significantly outperform the others) in engagement, conversion (both in SOI/DOI non monetary leads AND paid conversions) - have a higher CTR on ads, tend to complain about ads less - an are just overall "buyers"... My suspicion is that it has a lot t do with:
Statistically, a higher percentage of LGBT adults hold advanced degrees than their heterosexual counterparts (PER CAPITA of course)
Higher per-capita individual annual income (largely because of the former)
Men love porn - gay male couples watch and enjoy porn together not only at a higher rate, but at a higher frequency than their heterosexual counterparts
Tend to have more "disposable income". Although there are TONS of proud LGBT parents nowdays, more than ever before (AWESOME) - the majority of LGBT couples do not have children, therefore are not saving up for college funds, buying back to school clothes, or buying the latest and greatest "Toy" that is all the rage with the kids. They'll be much more likely to buy the latest and greatest "Toy" that will vibrate their partner's genitals at the push of a button from anywhere on demand lol
For some reason that I cannot explain, they appear to be more willing to fork out more money for pay sites and similar - it sounds ludicrous even to me as I'm typing it, but it just appears that the average gay site visitor tends to understand the value of premium content and production value making for a premium experience and maximum enjoyment more than the average straight male site visitor...
I loosely base this judgement/theory on my observations on my sites (am I qualifying these statements clearly enough? lol) of their respective spending habits in that area, as well as a tendency towards a high number of short videos watched in the span of a shorter site average site visit for straight men (say four 1 minute videos within 4 minutes site duration, at an average of 1 minute per page, 4 page views) vs a gay site visitor who's visit would more closely resemble:
15 min average visit duration, 7 minute average video length, 3 page views (2 videos ~7 min each plus a category page sorted by duration longest to shortest ~30 seconds)
Looking at those two example visitor funnels, although one of them did a whole lot more clicking on the site and may have seen a higher number of "vids" - it's no question which of those two visitors had a better user experience (our gay man of course)
I'm sure other site owners may have opposite experiences or opinions based on their traffic, but that's just been my experience - which is why I aske about gay traffic as that is my money maker lol - oh and my gay social media accounts for them and micro niche sites tend to explode much faster (in a good way) with much less effort than the straight sites.... A gay tumblr with 26k followers that is still somehow growing instead of shrinking even though it's now behind the "adult content filter wall" on tumblr, a twitter I just started in June that already has over 3k followers, and a MeWe hit over 1000 "friends" within 3 weeks - Just some examples
