It had to happen sooner or later. Everyone and their mom jumped on Instagram in the last couple years and used automation tools.

It's just too much spam, sorry guys! You ruined it with going overboard. 500-2000 accounts to F/UNF is just TOO MUCH.


Just to be clear I'm not bashing people for making money. I'm pointing out how saturated it became.

I do know that I can't use a single hashtag, or follow a niche page without automatically getting followed by tons of bots who are following me because of that activity. And then they unfollow and skew organic numbers. That creates a very sh*tty Instagram experience! Just being honest.

Yes Jarvee and other targeting tools worked well, but there are just too many people using it ruining the platform.

Even some large accounts I had, I did not use hashtags. But because they were very large page in the niche, they were targeted by these targeting tools and were followed by hundreds of bots per day, then unfollowed the next.

Well for now do everything that was been done by your bot manually. Scale back on accounts. Join engagement pods on telegram etc

I think businesses and influencers are getting fed up with IG's algo enough to leave. Influencers and fortune 500 companies have the power to pull millions in audiences unlike years before.

Tiktok takes too much to create content that is essentially stupid, we saw how that worked out for vine.

Really I think VERO could be a great contender. But their model is you pay to play just to be a normal user. I think if somebody were to create a social media network that was business friendly and interest based and sold ads, but also had a viral tab, top followed content tab, shopping tab, AND natural timeline tab. It would be a winner.

I think there is use for a healthy amount of botting on a social network as well.

I've already got a business plan ready in case an opportunity ever arises.

Yea I agree - true spammers ruined it. A business doing F/UNF I think is ok, because it is more genuine. For example a tattoo shop does F/UNF to people who follow other tattoo pages. The new followers they gained are interested in this niche already, so it's not a big harm.

But person who runs 1000 accounts and does F/UNF just to get visibility for app downloads, CPA, etc, is just playing the numbers game with minimal targeting. That is too spammy - they are ones who ruined it.

Most businesses I've asked about their IG ad experience say it sucks. Minimal results, and too expensive per impression or conversion. Most were willing to spend a designated amount, like $100, $500, etc to "try it out" and when it doesn't work out, they move on to other avenues.

But for IG, you get 1000 people a day "trying it out" that ad money ads up fast!

A real influencer such as a celebrity is not really impacted by IG changes - whether it was algo change in 2016 or the recent events.

In fact, I would say a non-chronological algo is more advantageous to a celebrity than chronological, because their die hard fans will always like and comment and keep them at top of their feed, whenever they see their posts. If it was chrono, they might miss posts.

If you are die hard fan of a page you follow and always like and comment, they'll be at top always.

What do you think how many people were reporting this kinda stuff every single day? It was just a matter of time.

I mean, did some of you really think botting is a sustainable business model or will work forever? YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc. changed over the past few years. Mostly to the negative. How fucking easy was it to get monetized on YouTube in 2012? How easy fast it to get legit ORGANIC traffic through Facebook in 2014, before they started to fuck up their algorithm and get all in for ads?

So what about now? Adjust and evolve or piss off. This is internet marketing. Things are changing and evolving. What works today, isn't guaranteed to work tomorrow. This is not the real estate market or stuff like this.

Users will get bored and leave the platform if things continue. IG is not listening to its fan base! Things like chronological feed has been asked for sooooo many times and not given. Why? Money. Ads everywhere and you can not have an ordered feed. IG will die off just like Facebook is dying. It will take years but it will eventually happen. A newer, fresher platform will rise and people will jump on it.

I would see a new platform being bought out by Facebook, same thing happend with Instagram.

Maybe not. Instagram did very well because they were different from Facebook offering different services when it came to ads. Facebook is turning Instagram into the the same ads concept as Facebook. Now opening the market up for another ad structure to come into play. I would bet Facebook would make an offer but if the person held out they could actually do make more money than Facebook could offer.

Believe it or not but users are happy for getting rid of spam and bullshit automatically promoted accounts. I know it's a big drama for all marketers but for an end user these are good news.
