There are many useful guides available here on BHW as to how you can build links for your website. Use the search button and find the right guide that discusses this in detail.
I would suggest you to build social signals, web 2.0s and then move on to niche relevant guest posts to make it effective

Brand your website with social profiles.
That's the best way to start ANY SEO.
It's safe ALWAYS and it keeps you safe later
down the road when you start fucking up your
PBNs because... less face it, if you're asking about
how to build a link.
You'll reach PBNs eventually, and you'll fuck up
your hosting, your whois and many other things.
So....
BRAND yourself, make sure you get your brand name
in the URL
example: twitter.com/brandname facebook.com/brandname <-fanpage
plurk.com/brandname, vimeo.com/brandname, etc etc...
Build as many as you can and intertwine them together when
possible.

2. Get forum links. (You sign up for a forum, find relevant threads, and leave a valuable comment on the thread.)

i not expert on Quora and Yahoo answer ,
if you put your link sometimes will get warning. got one time I try just ONCE only . at Quora place my link
in the answer , got warning . I never do before , that is my first time post my site link , the topic is related to the topic .
not spam etc .
forum wise still ok, what i learn . Actually take time .I never go a lot forum simply because is really time consuming.
Post in forum if you are new member have to dam careful, other members will report u for ad etc .
it take a freaking long time as forum member like a regular long establish member inside with a lot post count than you post your link even few times daily , will not get report . simply because you already a long time member there and all take times .
like that forum I post my site link , my post count is 10K ++
this take me few years to be like a long establish members yet other members don't see you trying to ad your stuffs there. Of course still need to be tactical but if you register a forum
is really need time to do it

You can create guest posting, blog creation, forum submission, profile creation, Web 2.0, Social sharing. etc. for backlink.
