After months of struggles with few of my conventional Amazon Affiliate websites(specially after Aug'18 algo update), I decided to start afresh.

I had a brandable domain parked at Namecheap. I put it live and published a few contents written by myself. The niche was Indoor Gardening number of posts I've till date is only 18.

But surprisingly, 14 of them are at first page with 4-5 #1st positions(with snippets). And for past few pieces, I'm getting 1st-page ranks OVERNIGHT! I've now outranked authorities like WikiHow or Instructables.

It blew my mind away!

I didn't try any of the BH or even GH tactics so far. Not even a single backlink's even.

While I started looking back for what exactly google liked about these contents, I found these-
  • Ultra Low-Competitive Informative KWs
The contents were created around Ultra Low Competitive informative keywords. SVs were lying between 50-1000/mo. No matter whatever the SVs are, i made sure not to select any keyword unless they've at least 8-10 potential spots at SERP.
  • No "1 KW- 1 Article" Approach
While doing content plan, i didn't go for the 1 KW-1 Article method. Instead, I took 2-4 main keywords with the same search intent. All of them were super low competitive as well.
  • Sectonwise KW Research
I did keyword research for each section of the content. As an example, for a 2500w posts, I created 8-10 sub-sections and optimized each of the sections with 1-2 relevant keywords. The optimization was all natural though.
  • LSI Keywords
I put some LSI keywords that are re technically related to the topic, and put each of them once in the content. I sorted out these KWs before I start writing. It's entirely done to provide a relevancy signal to the bot though.
  • Variation In Anchors
In the case of both inbounds and outbounds, I maintained a healthy mix of anchor text variations.
  • Well-formatted 360-Degree Solutions
This is the best part of my whole actions. while writing the articles, I tried my level best to make them 'Best' on the whole web around the targetted topic. I formatted it well, included media, kept the sentence flow jolly, and minimized grammatical error.

There are some other actions that probably worked out time-to-time, but can't remember right now.

Right now, analytics shows a monthly traffic of 1400+ and search console reports to touch 2300+ keywords in total.

I'm eagerly waiting to hear from you guys. What do you think about the whole scenario? Any suggestion that I should add to the checklist?

Great tips. I suspect the ultra low competition has a lot to do with it.

Now here comes the question that matters the most... does the traffic convert?
Well, I've not solely depended on review-intended money keywords here. Actually, I didn't' start publishing such articles even.

Instead, i did these to get some cash flowing in-
1- I use to recommend products wherever i can throughout the contents. Ex- In a guide on 'How to kitchen top', I'd recommend cleaners, brushes etc.
2- I've added a few T'shirt ads on top of my right widget which are relevant to my niche. Those are from my Tspring PoD account.
3- Right below the Tee ads, I've put a few soft products(i.e. courses).

That's all the monetizations I'm doing right now.

Back to your question, my AMZ conversion rate is 9.4% now. And from other sources, i'm making around $200-$300/mo.

How would i start it ?
Well, have to start with selecting the Niche and going with step 1- "Ultra Low-Competitive Informative KWs"

You've to prepare a database with at least 400-500 informative keywords. Then sort them out based on competition and search volumes. Group up 7-12 KWs for each content. And start creating the contents around.

That's the start. :)

What software did you've used to find the keywords?
Congrats for your achievements!!

Thanks Ricky.

I gathered up the initial database with Answer the Public, Google Adwords, Keyword Shitter, and Keyword Everywhere. Google search suggestions had been a great source as well.
Once the raw database was crafted, it was all about manual analysis and sorting.

What theme do you have on your site and what rich snippet plugin are you using?

Nice study cases. In 2019 I think backlink will less important. Btw, what SV mean?

I think it is mean Search Volume cmiiw.

Good luck OP. I also did similar plan, still no traffic but thanks for this thread, it makes me feel it will works

What kind of bacliknks? Pbn or web 2.0

I ask because you said inbound anchors.

Just to recap: OP, all you did was publish? Basically, the 'blog and ping' method still works as long as you target low comp low traffic keywords?

But does the traffic flow yield a positive ROI and ROE (return on effort)?

Sorry for the many questions.

Did you perform any link building campaigns? If Yes, could you list them?

What theme do you have on your site and what rich snippet plugin are you using?
I've Genesis Framework and Aspire Pro theme installed. No visual builder so far. Have a few shortcodes to implement the designs.

And i'm not using any snipper plugins so far. But I've applied a couple of tactics to pickup the snipper in SERP. So far, they've worked fine.

How long did it take to rank after you published a post?
Do you write them yourself or outsource?
Thanks and good job!

You're welcome, buddy.

Well, these are extremely low competitive KWs i'm working with. And in my cases, most of them use to rank 3-10 overnight. And eventually, as i try to work on the CTR, they climb even higher.

And yeah, i write my own posts. I've a team of writers but can't let them do that because writing these contents are too tough.

Great to know that, man. It works fine and will keep working in future.

Well, it takes a couple of months to get the ball rolling. Once you're out of sandbox, it's all about roses and sunshines.

Very good luck to you!
