He's going to have a service like Kwfinder, Ahrefs and SEMrush.

OK, so, if you were to compete with someone, I am sure you wouldn't let them know your plans in advance, would you? And give them time to prepare for it. And they have way more resources than you do. It just isn't proper business logic, even if you are confident that you will succeed.

So: 1. He will do it to maintain reputation
2. He will get some traffic (and is getting it right now too)
3. Tools will not be able to compete with the big players. Traffic alone isn't enough to cover the costs.
