He explained it in a podcast. He did it with ubbersuggest to squash the competition. He could be planning to charge down the line, when he dominates the area.
 
Neil comes through when he promises something. I do not accept he will put out anything subpar.
 
Ambitious but I doubt he'll be able to come up with anything close to Ahrefs. Offering the same paid features as Ahrefs for free... lol... not going to happen.

I have no doubt his tool will turn out to be handy for a lot of people... but you simply can't replicate Ahref's paid features properly and just give it away for free.
 
Yes he will probably give it for free for 30 days. Once the junkies are fully addicted he charges $19.95 a month and just made a cool monthly revenue stream
 
Well, he surely has money to push the development and once it is ready (same, worse or better features than the tools out there), funding will be on the table to run it free for some time. At that time he just needs to run the consolidation phase to get all paying customers from other tools to his.

If that happens, he can charge relatively less in future for tool usage, but, probably he is aiming to shift customer base to his tool (in theory) and be a market leader in the niche before charging against usage.

It can be a gimmick or can turn into a solid plan with the right team and investor(long-term) behind him.

Unless he has plans to break away from freemium once the SaaS is virally successful. Risky putting all that capital out
with the hopes people switch over. Ahrefs spends a small fortune in servers.
 
Well see what it's gonna be - Not the first and not the last one who try this. Almost sure he start this as a free service to strip features in the future and make those paid.
 
HOLY SHIT! What the heck did I just read, there were lots and lots of posts about how much did Neil acquired ubersuggest for? I read somewhere he must have paid anywhere from 3-4M $ and in the starting of the post he says I got it for 120,000$!!! WTF
 
It's too early to say goodbye paid seo tools.
Hes going to play with big sharks and I think that they are not going to give up . their budget is huge.
 
Semrush reported making over $50M last year, their costs must be at least $20M so sure Neil can come in and invest $100k monthly in his stuff, but making a tool as good as the paid ones is going to take a lot more than that.

Ambitious madesi wrote he's willing to lose money so that's probably what he's going to do it for a long time I mean there is no clear winner and of course if the exact same would be possible for free they would someone would take it but let's think about it how many servers does he need to acquire all the backlink data that the other services have?
I was given that model I doubt he would pay for mods data or Majestic API usage for ahrefs, but we shall see

I believe I was big retard when I used to follow his shit.

His website is just a bullshit that focuses on Patel's brand building and marketing.
 
I am good with paying for those tools, instead of watching his creepy smile on every page.

Thanks how it usually works or have a premium version (see Google), however is very far behind you have to realize that these other companies are not small one-man shops neither that stop investing
 
Most people here talk about Ahref's and how it is impossible that he replicates it, I don't care about Ahrefs but I am really curious and excited to use his Kwfinder alternative, since that tool isn't rocket since and as complicated as Ahref's, I wish it becomes more affordable and useful than Kwfinder.
 
He's going to eat all of his money away trying to keep up with ahrefs and the like. Can you imagine the server costs on crawling alone? He's going to have to monetize it somehow.
