Yes, I took the title from a movie. The movie was about survival, our will to exist against all odds.

This journey is also about survival. I will bare open all facts, even personal ones, in the hope that it would possibly inspire others to execute or at least learn from my mistakes.

Who am I?
Am a 20-something guy living in Gurgaon (one of the biggest tech hubs in India).
At this point in time, I have exactly $150 in my bank account. Blame it on the lack of a saving habit and terrible work ethic. My terrible work ethic is evident in the fact that I have so many dead journey threads. Let's hope this is not one of them.

Like I said, this is about survival.

What am I going to do about it?
I am going to code my way out of this hellhole that I created. I have almost no coding experience, have gone halfway through a beginner's Python course. That's it.

I am going to learn Python+Django and create a website(s) that makes me $100/day minimum. I am yet to know what that website will do or what it will be about. But I have time.

I am going to finish up this course: https://www.udemy.com/automate/learn/v4/
and then move onto this course for basics of Django and OOP: https://www.udemy.com/python-and-django-full-stack-web-developer-bootcamp/learn/v4/

Then I would come up with an idea that would utilize my new skills to make some green.

127 Hours? What has that got to do with any of it?

I believe I can get started working on my money website in just 127 hours. I will log each single hour here. Also, when I say an hour, I mean productive hours I spend learning and coding. That's what am counting here.

PS. Don't ask me how I got the 127-hour figure. I have a very strong intuition.

ohhhhhhh that explainssss

good lucks brother all the bests

So I forgot I even had a thread that I needed to update lol.

I am done with "Automate the boring stuff with python" took me 20ish hours. I skipped on a lot of things as I was already familiar with them.

I have now started with Python & Django full stack python (31.5 hours of video lectures) costs about $10 on udemy during their sales (which happens very often). here is the link/; https://www.udemy.com/python-and-django-full-stack-web-developer-bootcamp/

I hope to complete this in about 100ish hours spread over 2 to 3 months.

All the best brother! I am a student from India too and I purchased the python and django course you mentioned... Marking my first investment towards my future :)

You certainly have the determination so success isn't that far away, doing this you are a double winner - making websites to earn and having valuable code skills. I wish you well

I don't wanna discourage you but I have read few times somewhere that phython +Django is real pain in the ass. I mean I saw some post on webmaster related forum that a guy did PHYTHON+Django for an year but still he is not good at it, starter learning php and stuff and completed in less time.
Don't know how true but guy was senior on that forum.

PHP is the real PITA if you ask me personally.
First, you get a somewhat limited language compared to Python.
If you don't stick to a robust framework with PHP, you can make some huge security mistakes when coding a functional website from scratch. That shit is scary bro. I don't want someone to hack my first ever project.

Python is more likely to be used in varied environments and roles versus PHP. I can code up sick GUI apps in Python among tons of other things.

Python is more readable versus PHP, this one is not even debatable.

Just these two reasons are good enough for me to jump into Python.

In conclusion, learning anything new is a PITA. Just pick one and slog through it.

I know you're currently learning Django for web apps, but what do you typically use to create a GUI in Python (such as a desktop app)? I was researching about it recently, but a lot of what I saw looked very old and dated.

Very interesting journey. I will be sure to stayed tuned.

Good luck with your journey. I already know Python and Django but I need a monetization idea :)

Okay guys

Am still on Python & Django full stack bootcamp course by Jose Portillo

Completed 9% of the course, still learning the basic HTML (which I already know so watching the whole thing at 2x)

I am not skipping the video in the fear that I might miss on something I don't already know.

I am starting CSS

I'm learning python atm too. I just wanna ask that when you are going through the video courses do you code at the same time or do you just watch the video?

Good luck with your journey!

all the best
