Hello Everybody,
Domainlord is updated to version 1.62 today. It is a significant update that introduces Majestic Data, Indexing Status, Spam Score and other useful metrics within the software now. You can activate these subscriptions or get data credits by clicking the special data button on Settings->Special Data.
Domainlord will remain a one time purchase and we haven't changed the pricing for the software. Data Credits is an optional feature that you can subscribe to if you wish to get key insights into the expired domains. Some of the key metrics that have been introduced are: Majestic TF, Majestic CF, Total Backlinks, Referring Domains, Referring IPs, Educational Backlinks, Government Backlinks, Indexing Status, Indexed Pages, Anchor Texts for top 10 links, Spam Score and a few more.

I have fixed this issue. You should be able to use the trial version alright now. You don't need to update the software or anything. It will work after you restart it next time. Hope that helps.

it found 6-7 domains, then gave me "encoding error"

That encoding error is just a warning that comes for some pages with incorrect encoding. You can safely ignore it. It's not a domain lord problem as such. The software is working fine.
Also, Trial version allows you up to 10 domains or three runs only... you can get the full version if you want to use it further.

The tool gave me a list of domains 18 domains in a span of just 3-4 minutes, which is excellent.
As expected, the quality of domains was disappointing as none of them had >5 RD except one that had 11 RD.
Overall, the tool looks good for its price and I'm still willing to try out the full version.
I will post a thorough review as soon as I buy the premium version.
