But, can you please tell me how does Steemit earn it's money, cause there are no ads, and even if there are any ads, the amount of money out can't be even close to the money that can be provided by the ads. So, can you please tell me how does the website gets its own money to pay its members, cause after all, the website is not a charity website, I guess ...

yes it is tolerated, but it will likely not receive a high payout like a long written text.

steem power means: the amount of steem currency that you'Re holding in your account.
Let's say you make a steemit post, and your post generates $10.
Part of these $10 go to your curators, the people who upvote you. maybe 1 or 2 $.
another part, around 4-5$ get transferred to your wallet in steem dollars. you can cash it out right away.
and the rest goes to your wallet in steem power, meaning STEEM cryptocurrency.
you can cash that out by "powering down", a process which will let you cashout your steem power in 13 equal parts.

Ok so it seems you gotta create a new account to use the chat.

Yes, you have to create a new account on steemit.chat. of course it makes sense to use the same username as on steemit.

50% 50%, which is the default setting, means that 50% will be in steem dollars and 50% in steem power.

So whatever amount is listed, is listed in STEEM currency and should by multiplied by 2.5?
If thats the case, it means that people are making more than $20 for posting absolutely garbage pictures

yes, you can check the current steem dollar price, which is right now just below $2.
So if you get 10 steem dollar for your post, it's actually almost 20 US-Dollar.
But take care that steem dollar and steem is not the same. it's 2 different currencies.
check coinmarketcap.com and search for steem dollar and for steem, you will see the different prices.

yes it allows links, but if you only post a link you will not likely get many upvotes.

Since I am new in this I would like to know when we convert steem into bitcoin how to transfer converted bitcoins in $$ to our bank account or card.

you transfer your STEEM coins from steemit to any exchange platform, for example bittrex.
there you exchange it to Bitcoin.
and with bitcoin you can exchange it on many different places in the internet into your local currency, just google it and there will be many results

So I got approved in Steemit a few hours ago. I already posted five articles, my first post is an introduction which earned me $0.23. My second post reached $16.60 in less than one hour. Guys please post if anyone has received payment.. It seems they are collecting your articles in their database with copyright rights to them and may not pay..

you don't need to worry about payment. I've been on steemit for a year and I'm cashing out almost everyday. they DO definitely pay out. you can go to any steemit user, go to their wallet, and whenever you see "transfer to poloniex" or "transfer to bittrex" or "transfer to blocktrades" that means they have cashed out.
(because poloniex, bittrex and blocktrades are exchange platforms. you send your steem their to exchange them for bitcoin)
and no there is no copyright on your articles.
