When I speak marketing, I understand making ads and posting them on different platforms (TV, banners, social media, etc). So what's the real job of a marketer and why are they so expensive to hire? Thanks!

A marketer does the research for an ad, gather keywords and demographics that fit, run campaigns, tweak campaigns, reaches out to other pages, does copy writing, and a lot more. It's not just running ads and hoping or the best

^ this.

Marketers can be also product creators, their job is also marketing the product, track and measure marketing campaign results, etc ... marketing is much broader term than ads.

Each platform used for marketing is studied example adwords .

To be a expert you study the while advertising concept on adeords .

All advertising services have diffeent advert advertising approach so you need to study many for all diffeent business .

You only get what u pay for

Some marketers are over priced, I will admit that right off the bat. It may even be a market or service that is a bit over priced overall, and the fact that marketing agencies have long been some of the wealthiest businesses in the world. They are also responsible for having created some of the biggest fortunes in the world, as well, by creating campaigns such as "Just Do It". A good market does do more than just post ads. They take the time to figure out exactly who to put the ad in front, when to put it there, what to say when they do, and a ton of other factors that get the biggest bang for every dollar. Getting $4 for every $1 spent on marketing can be very different than getting $8 for every $1 spent.

The best way to distinguish between Advertising and Marketing is to think of marketing as a pie,
inside that pie you have slices of advertising, market research, media planning, public relations, product pricing, distribution, customer support, sales strategy, and community involvement.

To put it shortly marketing is a profession, and an ad is a tool.
Same as a carpenter and a saw.

Marketers can get expensive if they have a good record of bringing their clients money through their strategies. Some are overpriced, sure, but if the client wants those amazing results, it's always worth it in the long run.
