Iv'e been buying a quite a few domains recently and i was wondering what exactly does whois do. What can someone find out if i don't have it? If they can only find out my name and email then i'm going to forget paying extra for it.

For those of you who are curious...i'm buying up domains related to my main niche and i may start building up a PBN. But don't lecture me on that!! lolz. Cause my question is about WHOIS. ;)

All kinds. Address and phone number for starters. Go to whois.net and do a search on some random domain to find the kind of information they keep. Btw, namecheap has a free whois guard for a year. So if you're buying a lot of domains, I suggest using them. You just have to turn it on from the settings after buying a domain.

Whois is like the phone book for domains. Every domain has some whois data.
