What does it Mean ? - in Google keyword Tool

Before I have created my blogs & always fail to get rank traffic because i never did keyword research ...

Now I first time doing keyword research .

I searched for a keyword in google adwords keyword tool
the result is like this :

Competition : low (0.2)
Global monthly Searches : 20,400,000
Local Monthly searches(in US) : 4,090,000

& found another related keyword which is also 0.2 & global monthly search 55,600,000

My First question is what that 0.2 ?
& Second Question is Is these keyword good to target ?

No ... I didn't know that ... After Reading few articles on net I found that I should use [EXACT] ...

So [EXACT] result is like this :
Competition : Low - 0.04
Global Monthly Searches :135,000
Local ( US ) : 22,200

& Some other related keywords
Competition : low - 0.01
Global : 301,000
 
Really not sure what does o.02 & o.o4 means. I checked now with my computer there is not such things appears.

About your keyword make sure what monetization you gonna promote. If its Adsense site see what is the CPC (Cost Per Click) you are getting. If you gonna use CPA search for a relevant CPA offer.
You need to see the competition of those keywords. Use traffic travis select the country you need to target enter your keyword see how many Backlinks, domain age and PR of your competitors. If you feel you can outrank them go ahead.

i don't know what it means either. i asked someone last week, but didn't get a reply.

but yeah, when you're in the google keyword tool, and you save it to open in excel, it gives a number. like it'll give you .70 or .25 or something like that, instead of the competition that it shows in the keyword tool... it replaces low, medium and high with a number....

i just want to know what exactly those numbers mean.... i'm new to seo.

but yeah, go to keyword tool and save it as an excel file, and you'll see the numbers we're referring to.

Thanks for the tips .... That Values 0.02 & etc are showing when I hover my mouse pointer over "low" or "high" ...

& how to check for CPC ? i have checked "traffic estimator" in that adwords tool but can't figure it out how to use it for our adsense purpose ..
 
rahul998, i also want to know what those numbers mean, so hopefully someone can answer...

i just want to know competition wise, what makes a number like .20 different to something like .60
 
Those numbers are the competition levels. .00 being the lowest competition up to 1 being the very highest.

thanks. i realise that, but what do the numbers mean, in relation to each other? that's what i'm asking. i mean, .20c and .40c in currency is different to something being a 2 on the scale and a 4 on the scale as far as earthquakes go. so that's what i want to know. what do the numbers mean??

0.2 / 1.00 is the weight of the competition between adwords advertisers bidding for this keyword. This has nothing with seo competition at all. But if it is > 0.5 it means the niche won't go dead soon since there are many advertisers bidding for it so adsense ads will be there for this niche for good amount of time.

If it is low it means a big chance for adwords advertiser to get low priced clicks so you can drive traffic using adwords to affiliate offer link clickbank etc...

hey, thanks for that. i'm a bit dense when it comes to this, not to mention it's 1 in the morning here, and i'm kind of drunk..

so, it has nothing to do with seo competition... and it's about people paying to advertise with adwords. i think i get that.

but may i give you an example? i'm about to buy a domain that has 9900 exact searches a month. the competition i see, is .28. are you saying i should go for this, or not? btw, i'm not looking at adsense to put on it, i've just been using google keyword tool for research... i'm going to monetize via subscription, no ads. i'm going to try and rank it. does the .28 make it easier to rank, or not? i'm not trying to look at it from the adwords point of view...

Look at the top 5 and make sure you do better in terms of content then on site seo and lastly backlinks.

If the cpc is low I would get some traffic through adwords while you are aiming to get people to subscribe so by obtaining a member you get paid multiple times.
 
If that competition level shows in keyword tool is not for SEO or competition with websites than how to find actual competition , SEO or rank competition ..??
