few months ago I ordered one year hosting at hostwinds after reading quite a lot of good reviews from fellow blackhatters. However, I don't know why my experience with this hosting provider is really bad.

The sites I host here have been offline 4 times since I signed up and in the past 2 days, there are two down times. I'm not sure is there anymore down time when I don't check. I only know because I recently setup an email using the domain I host at hostwinds and I check mail few times a day. I contacted support team and the reason and what I get is "your sites will be online asap" or "we are trying our best to get it online".

Well, I don't care what you are doing, you are doing your best or not but this kind of hosting really hurts my business. It doesn't matter if you try your best or not, make sure what you try ensure customers' satisfaction.

I hate moving host because it cost time and might hurt ranking but I have to do this time. I think it's time to back to hostgator now.

Good luck hostwinds, and don't tell other people you are having 100% uptime (as the sale guys told me).

My uptime has been 100% ever since I've been with them, not a single issue.
Are you sure you're talking about the right company ? o.0

I am talking about

so yes, I think it's hostwinds. Maybe you are lucky as I was told that my node was overloaded. I'm not sure why my node is overloaded so many times.

This is unacceptable and not what people should expect from their hosting companies. I started hostwinds because I wanted to do something different than every other crappy hosting company out there. We consider customer service and support to be our number 1 priority and if you aren't happy I need to know about. The lifeblood of our company is our client's without you guys we are nothing. I want to do two things.

First I have added you on skype, second I would like for you to PM me the main domain associated with your account, I know we have had an issue with Node #7 over the past two days which resulted in downtime for a small number of our clients. If you experienced any service interruptions at all, then you would have been on that node, we monitor all aspects of our infrastructure 24/7/365 at 60 second intervals. We responded promptly to both issues, however I know just as well as anyone that nothing maters but results, and it sounds to me thus far you have not seen good results. I want to give you this entire month on us, to help make up for the poor service you have received. I would also like to extend our money back guarantee to your account, even if you are past the 60 days. When you signed up we promised to be the best hosting provider we could possibly be, and if we have fallen short of this, then I feel your are fully entitled to a full refund. Please add me on skype so we can talk more, and I can find out exactly what support staff you spoke with, and get a better understanding of how we can better service our clients. I am deeply sorry for any losses you may have suffered as a result of using our services.

Added you Peter

I suggest people have Pingdom to monitor their uptimes. It's free, and solid service. Rather than shooting in the dark about down-times, we' would like to see actual numbers.

I'm with them since 1 year+~ and never really had a problem. Peter is a nice guy, talked with him once on the phone when I was stoned =))

I'm using bluehost for last 3 years and more than happy with 100% uptime compared with my local hosting that most every years had trouble.

problem is while I shot in the dark, I still hit some down times. not sure how it will be when I turn the light on. lol

Peter,

I just got your annual ultimate plan.

I'm considering moving my server to you and decided to test your service for few month before I move everything.

I paid couple of $$ ($5-$7 more for the year) more for this plan for one reason.
I like your reply, I can feel you Passion and dedication in providing the best service.

Take care,

Something similar happened to me while using HostWinds. My site was getting lots of downtimes, the last downtime I had lasted 2 days! I tried contacting everyone but no answer for 2 days! In my book that's really unacceptable and decided to change hosting.

I'm not trying to put anyones business down nor give bad reviews, just sharing my experience with the company.

It seems like a success for some and not for others, but Peter's support is always great and you're talking to an owner rather than an unsavvy tech support agent who can't help you or grant you things like Peter can.

You may be having problems, but it's best to contact the person first before giving them a negative review that can have a serious impact on their business. If you don't get the help you need or still are not satisfied, then you are entitled to write about it.

Im not sure this is possible........

If we had 2 days of downtime we would be out of business, was the downtime related to our service, or was it related to a configuration issues....such as DNS?

Our servers are monitored 24/7/365 and we simply could not sleep if there was a 48 hour long downtime, let alone stay in business

I might have to look into your reseller packages. I'm a small business owner over in Oregon, looking at getting into reselling with the client base I have... And I'm impressed by your reply to this thread as well.

I'll check out your site and business, I might be in Oklahoma this summer, you might have to kick me off your leg, I could use a mentor in the business. ;-)

Been looking at the typical HostGator for reselling and another option brought up by a member here, Surpass.

My sites and businesses are all legit, whitehat, etc etc...

Sorry but it is possible and it actually happened, my site was down for two days completely and this was the response I got from support.

I have fixed this you had nginx insstalled on your server, and it was an outdated version that conflicted with the newest version of apache which we isntalled during the ip migration

I have removed nginx and everything appears to be working, we have also credited your account with 10 days of free time for the toruble I am very sorry
