Hi,

I have a website in the self improvement niche and I just ran a "site:" check to see what google knows about my site, and among the dozen of pages that appear in the index there's also the Privacy Policy... with a "Lose Pounds" appended to it. Like, WHAT?

So, the privacy policy page of my self improvement site shows up in google's index exactly like this: "Privacy Policy - Lose Pounds" even though I checked both the page's title and the title of the All In One SEO plugin and there's no such thing as "lose pounds" anywhere.

When I click on my site's title in google's results page of the "site:" search google does open up my website instead of the one you see in the screenshot below, but I don't like this anyway.

I went into my Google Search Console account and inspected this URL and this is what I saw:

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get rid of that site (which is not mine btw) and also how to fix the index? And why does that site appear in MY search console account to begin with? That's not my site...

Check the source of your page by right clicking on your privacy policy page. Does it say something like this anywhere?

Check your theme. This link is hidden somewhere in your theme.

nope. Can't find the word "canonical" (searched it both with, and without putting it in quotes) anywhere

what do you mean "check your theme"? You mean go inside of my site's dashboard and search through all of the files of the theme for that URL?

You've probably used a "nulled" theme or plugin, that causes these issues.

I didn't use a nulled theme or plugin... well, not me personally cause I paid for this site in January and I got it from someone I trust.

Also, I checked the theme files and couldn't find anything. Gonna check the plugins now

You won't find "anything" when just checking the files. If there's a guy who knows how to code they will hide it in places you won't find this code. For example adding 1 line of JS to the minified jQuery file that's included in your theme.

well, if they do such things I'm fucked cause I'm not a programmer and don't know too much about this shit. I have one question, though: if this is deliberate are there any benefits to the other site's owner for doing this? Or to anyone else than me, actually. Does anybody benefit from this weird thing, or is it just a mistake?

I don't know, anything can happen. Maybe your traffic gets redirected to his own website 10 minutes a day so you don't realize? Maybe he's using a crypto JavaScript miner on your visitors? Difficult to say.

I see... Well, what else can I say other than WOW! I only ran a casual "site:" check to see how my site looks in google and now I found that I may imperceptibly make someone else rich. The internet is full of surprises :)

Anyway, thanks for all of your AWESOME tips! Gonna think about what to do about this...
