hello all,

Building web 2.0 backlinks for brand new or old sites is still counted in terms of SERP ranking?
Can they be considered tier 1 links pointing to money site?
or should be used for tier 2 and tier 3?

Edit: any tier is good but 2 or 1, consider redirect also, depends of your link building methods, use all and test all, you never know

Yes, they do work. On top web 2.0s, you can even expect traffic to get redirected to your site, so make sure your anchors are at the top and also top it off with relevant royalty free or stock images.
Just treat it as another money site post for premium web 2.0s. They pass link juice and even get picked up GSC for RD.

It is still a good source for a contextual link.. excellent source of diversity of anchors and does move the needle when used with other foundational links

Of course they are worthy. Sometimes I find some web 2.0s are been ranked not on the first pages but still they do rank. So I do create web 2.0s once in a while for tier 1 campaigns.

To answer your question in short - yes they do work.

To answer your question with a bit of explanation - they do work but with certain directives followed. It's not just knowing which web2.0 platforms have good metrics, its about how you make blog itself.
What I do is create several web2.0 blogs and treat them as legit blog. Make several pages, add several articles. Not just toss everything there like in garbage can and hope it will work.
Then, I find a way to send crawlers to my web2.0 blogs. After they indexed, I add some more content. In the end, I start sending link(s).
