torrents vs file sharing?

What is the difference i was planning on uploading fake files to torrents. I seen some journeys on here and people made money. My problem is culd you do the same thing with file sharing? Not many people know about torrents but alot of people use file sharing.

Just so i am clear it is 100 percent legal to upload fake files even if i name it something really popular like a movie or music? I know about getting banned and all that i just want to know if it is legal meaning i cant be prosecuted?

No, it's not illegal, it's just unethical in some eyes.
