Figured this would be helpful as I'm seeing many people saying they are getting 0 conversions with media buying. Also think that this section needs some help with education/tools. It seems super dead. Probably because many people are making money and not sharing their knowledge because this shit is tooooo easy, while the new people run around like a headless chicken.
Anyways, I'm going to list reasons why you probably suck at media buying. This is based on my experience when I started my media buying journey a few years ago.
1. Your mindset sucks
You dabble and you're not focused. You're not strategic. "I'm going to try sending some traffic to this landing page/offer and see if it works" After you spend your initial budget you start having doubts. Then you fail and come back and report the bad news.
In order to win with media buying, you must be focused and strategic. I've read many reviews of bad traffic sources in this forum.
I doubt the traffic source is bad. I think you just aren't focused enough on one thing to give it the chance it needs to start working.
2. Your testing strategies suck
In order to succeed with media buying you need to test everything. Depending on your budget, traffic source and offer types this structure can change dramatically.
If you don't have much money to spend you're going to have to take it slow and test 1 thing at a time compared to if you have a few hundred to spend daily to test multiple variables faster.
If you don't have much money to spend, you don't use Native Ads. Instead you should try more generic and cheaper traffic sources like push/pop.
If your budget is small, you shouldn't be working in T1 GEOS. You should learn with the T3 geos and buy cheap traffic. These do convert from my experience and can make you $100/daily easily.
3. Your technology sucks
There are 2 things you need to make media buying work. At most you should spend $300/month in subscriptions to software providers:
If you don't know what everyone else is doing, you're pretty much going to a gun fight with a knife. 9/10 you're going to die unless you're really close to the other guy.
If you aren't using tracking software, then you're also going to lose money. You're not buying media off Google/Facebook with the sleek ux and insane advertiser tools.
You're probably going to be buying traffic from some site that only gives you placement IDS and how much clicks it sent.
It's up to you to track everything, so you know what works and what you can blacklist/whitelist in the traffic source provider.
4. You're slow as shit
You take forever to take action because your mindset sucks. You're not focused or trusting the process enough. You give up too easily after spending $10 on a campaign and getting 0 conversions.
You take forever to test because you don't have a good strategy in place. You spend the $10 and you don't properly structure your campaign to test a variable at a time.
You take forever to build campaigns because your technology sucks. You have to spend hours coming up with creative/ad copy/landing page ideas because you don't have Adplexity.
You don't know what OS/language, placements lose you the most money. So you just instantly assume that the source is shit because some publishers on the network have terrible traffic that drive down your ROI.
You don't have proper infrastructure to test hundreds of offers/landing/ad combinations.
You're moving at 20mph in an industry that goes at 200. This industry is pretty watered down where you don't need to be as creative as you think you should be in order to succeed.
The game plan to succeed with media buying is as follows:

Hope this is helpful. I would like to create more of these, however, if this section is too dead then I don't see the point in doing so.

The game plan to succeed with media buying is as follows:
- You look at your budget and filter out what traffic source you need to use. Low budget people don't do Native Ads, etc.
- You go to your affiliate networks and pick any country that works within your budget constraints. If you're poor don't do USA offers.
- You do on Adplexity and rip a bunch of setups to test, then add it to your tracking software
- You rinse and repeat with all the offers you can get your hands on in your network circle.
- Profit? Scale?...
