New functionality: custom home page, also known as the Personal Live Feed

We've released a new feature to help you personalise your BHW experience.

You can now create a custom home page thanks to our whizzy new Live Feed. This is only available as a benefit of paid membership.

This feed is populated by your watched forums, your watched threads and your followed users. The live feed will be refreshed automatically every minute so that it remains current, without the need to reload the page yourself.

Please note that if you have opted to have them, you will still receive email alerts and/or push notifications for all your watched threads, watched forums, and followed users. The custom home page will be in addition to that functionality.

To view your live feed, Go to "Forums" at the top navigation bar and click on "Live feed".

And that’s it! Nice and easy. You can populate this feed by following users and watching threads and forums and you can also unfollow people at any time.

Will be there more filters in the future? Only new threads in the watched forums, hide reactions etc
 
BHW soon will be #1 social community for internet marketers ... DD should expect a message from FB to purchase BHW :D
 
Very neat - I guess I need to start following and watching more threads.

Would be nice if we could include new posts, but have the ability to exclude certain sections or posts from certain user/post count thresholds.

We might introduce more filters in the future, but we don't have any current plans for that. For now though, you can control which threads you watch within a forum, and you can select only new threads in the pop up box when you click 'Watch' on a forum:

I don't think we will implement a way of blocking certain types of users from Live Feeds. We generally try to keep the forum a place for all members to share their ideas and experience, as well as asking questions, so we don't want to create new ways to discourage those members who have fewer posts. You can always skim read posts in your Live Feed - you don't have to click on anything that doesn't meet your own personal standards and don’t forget if bandwidth is a concern you can always “hover” over a thread to preview it.

For watched forums, how does it determine when to show it in the live feed? It doesn't seem to respect the "Watch" options for the forum.

Example:
I am watching Instagram forum ( https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/instagram.215/ ). My "Watch" settings are to show alerts only when New threads are opened. But in my live feed ( https://www.blackhatworld.com/live-feed ), likes and replies to old threads in that forum are also included.

Thanks for the feature, by the way - we had nothing like this earlier. :)

If you have the forum set to watch it will show all activity no matter what you have set for the "Watch" settings.

Essentially because those paid members paid for its development.
There are significant costs to running any forum with millions of annual visitors like ours and buying an off the rack add-on for $29 just won’t cut it so we need to go custom across all configurations.
As with all paid memberships there are added benefits and this is just one of many available which include access to the marketplace, larger inbox and other add ons. Sorry for the delay in replying to your question. Christmas always turns time into a confusing void.

The feed is populated by updates from the last hour, so if yours is empty, it just means that nothing has happened on your watched threads or forums for the last hour. It isn't just unread posts.
