After reading this thread https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/the-biggest-problem-in-bhw-is-the-lack-of-real-legitimate-reviews-and-too-many-free-positive-reviews.1333352/

I agree with @Blackhat Lifter

People post positive reviews even when they know the service is bad. I for one do that.

Why? Because if I leave bad reviews on majority of services, no one will select me for a review copy, and then I have to pay to test new services. And it's definitely not on my agenda to willingly pay for what could be a trash service.

Making review copies first come first server ONLY would eradicate this issue. Doesn't need any new development adding on the site, just a nice simple rule. Then sellers can't avoid giving us review copies if we review honestly.

Knowing you I am surprised you are lying in reviews.

Nothing worse than doing this, because every genuine buyer will possibly end up with garbage but after reading your positive review decided to buy.

All my reviews have been impartial, honest and sometimes brutal.

Like if a service is bad, it's getting a bad review, guaranteed. But if it's not up to my standards, if I think it's too the standards of the majority of BHW, then I'll give them a break and say it's good. I have to try and balance my ability to receive review copies with the reviews I provide. If I'm to honest, I won't get review copies anymore and then I'd be unable to post the truth. And If I'm too lenient, I'm doing my morality an injustice.

Which is why I feel this rule should be implemented.

It will allow me to remain honest across the board without jeopardizing my ability to actually review stuff.

I don't enjoy being lenient, I'm the type of guy who likes calling people out. But I know deep down I won't be able to call people out if they stop picking me for review copies.

Agreed, but because people can pick who reviews. If I try 5 bad services in a row, and I leave 5 bad reviews. No seller is going to want me to review their service. And they are just going to pick people who provide good reviews. So you get the same scenario occur.

Implementing first come first serve rule, eradicates this.

These are people offering paid services / goods, this is why the first come first served does not apply.

If you cannot spot fake reviews / shills ( same people only posting to leave reviews for X, Y or Z service ), you need to become more street savvy mate.

People who come first in 90% cases, they really are not needy. They never reply to pm, wait 3 days to reply and so on.
Will not support.
If OP left good review knowing service is not up to mark as he said in two thread, should face consequences of posting false propaganda reviews

You ought not to take review copies if you are not going to be honest.

It honestly pains me to not be completely honest.

But if I'm completely honest, I won't get review copies. And then I can't leave honest reviews for people. So I'll refer to the saying "I pick and choose my fights carefully"

To be fair I don't quite understand that perspective, if I'm correct, people can describe what they require from a review in terms of depth? so the reviews themselves wouldn't change much, but it would prevent people posting good reviews just to keep their ability to get review copies.

I can definitely spot fake reviews, especially from review copies. So I know it's not just me who does this.

That being said, if the way reviewers are chosen are not regulated in any way, the sellers can basically craft their reviews by choosing specific people. It's basically the same as buying reviews.

I'm honest on some services, but they need to be a specific level of bad for me to leave a bad review. A threshold if you like.

I'm going to straight up delete any reviews you leave going forward and reply ban you from those threads as well... you are part of the problem and not part of the solution as it comes to making the sales threads a better place.

"just to keep their ability to get review copies." Jesus Christ.

Any decent seller would rather have an unbiased review and feedback. When we launched our services we selected people for review copies who we know are SEO experts/professionals. We wanted them to tell us what was good/bad/ugly and where < if anywhere> we could improve.

We purposely avoided those who are asking on every thread just to collect freebies.

Understood, I offered what I feel is a decent solution in here as a suggestion. That I feel would work for a lot of people.

It's not just me who does this, I'm pretty certain. Solutions are the best way to deal with problems IMO. And I think solutions coming from the problem people are sometimes the best solutions.

As always, there could be flaws in my suggestion. But I've only posted it because I don't like what I do.

That being said, I don't look for review copies anymore, it's more painful for me to leave a review than it's worth.

Correct, and I fully agree. But I know there will be sellers on here that don't see the true opportunity for honest reviews. And just see that flashy "10/10 fantastic reviews" that they want to get the sales in. And they might actually have a good service, they might not.

I mean look at amazon, the fake reviews an infestation, because it works. People on here know that it works.

And I think choosing your own reviews, is basically enabling false reviews. Not in the sense that you are telling them to leave a false review, but because your not choosing the people who will leave a bad review. I personally feel that's just as bad. It's not a real honest review if the seller already knows that a good review is coming. And regardless of my reviews, they have tons and tons of other members that they can use to get those good reviews. I'm a spec of dust in the big picture.

But let's just agree on something, most sellers on BHW are not good. The decent sellers are definitely in the minority on this forum. That means all the bad sellers will avoid people who leave honest reviews. And thus the cycle continues.

I was going to say that taking review copies off the equation and letting only verified buyers leave a review MIGHT solve the problem but we all know that's not gonna happen...

Marketplace 2.0 will also be a good part of cleaning up fake reviews like you have been leaving, @Dark Sky.

If you opened a Michelin Star restaurant, who would you want to come and review the food and service? A food critic / a chef or the first in line at MacDonalds?

If you were launching a new range of fine wines / champagne, do you want a wine connoisseur, other professional tasters, sommeliers there for the tasting who will write about the aromas, tannins, colours etc. Or the first in the queue who drinks in Wetherspoons and pays £2.99 a bottle in Aldi?

The information shared in this thread by the OP as to what he does really bothers me... I'm going to turn off the watch aspect of this and come back to it tomorrow.

I'll go watch some other FU BHW community threads instead for a bit.

Seems like this thread backfired quite a bit, but don’t let that take away from the fact that, what he is suggesting is a good idea.
Nobody is dismissing his idea... just dismissing him.

He is on vacation now.
