I doubt it that EAT can cause a penalty; then lots of other websites would be hit too. i think it comes down to authority of the domain. EAT can help in some niches for sure. There are sites that have good content, no EAT and they keep climbing the serps. why? one of the main reasons is time on site and CTR for the sites - as the content is engaging, good, it provides value to the visitor; thus depending case by case, niche per niche, there are different factors for each niche and some have more importance overall than others.

WTF I have the same issue on my sites which got hit !! :O And I use also AMP pages, it's the same s*** they also decreased badly without any explanation.
I went from 48 pages to 15 pages.

This will happen only because of two reason one is because of spamming and other is because of Algorithm update

Exactly same traffic graph here. And mobile pages are decreasing in gsc - same issue. I also have mobile pages (responsive)!
 
Google is rolling their core update and due to that many websites are seeing fluctuations in their ranking. You should wait for few days and do provide internal linking for some strong pages as well as build 2-3 powerful external links.

I'm quite surprised, my site started getting around 30% more visitors right after this update. I hope it ain't just a fluke or a mistake.
 
My keyword rankings have fluctuated in the past 2 days, especially today. Is it because of the algorithm update that Google just released?

Please don't give them this kind of suggestions. It's something they could really do.
 
You know those google updates was made for help spammers and it's indeed helping.
 
My deindexed pages returned to normal on 7th january. Currently I see no changes from today's algo, its probably too soon to say.
 
1 of my sites has returned from the November update but its been back once before and then away and now back again, so I am expecting the other one to come back now as well. The problem is I don't want to feel too happy because it has done this before only to punch me in the stomach again ( or so it feels) So if it is still ranking in 3 weeks time and not a 2 weeks in 2 weeks out scenario then I will be able to relax a bit better. Waiting to see now if the other big one ( my biggest one) comes back it did last time just after the other one.

In regards to google showing a few pages only of results per niche, its been doing this for ages in a lot of the adult niches I thought it was across the board. I don't get why they are doing that but sometimes its 74 results then next refresh its 49 results and this is for big keywords.
