Sudden Ranked Drop? Google Algo Update?

Gift cards / promo codes. I saw someone else also mentioned the same niche. Looks like not all niche categories are affected.

Your are right. This is not a niche specific, i guess: google-bug.

I think, Your rivals just advanced beyond you in natural indexed lists. In such cases, you get a slight drop in rankings, yet on the off chance that you don't take care of business, the drop will consistently proceed.

Mine came back up after 3 weeks. I edited a few contents, did a Request Indexing via Search Console (some user a few pages back did something similar and I followed), and the keyword rankings went back up. Hope no more surprises in the new year.

Still maintaining after a week, seems pretty stable despite some slight fluctuations. Will proceed with more parasite seo and G indexing. Hope it works for some of you. Will update if there are extreme anomalies.

The big question is (in my case), can a "EAT penalty" cause such a BIG drop, from having good visibility to being NOWHERE. I can understand that with a EAT analysis, my website lacks links, BUT many websites in front of me are way worse, EAT-wise. I just hope it's a Google bug and that it will get fixed soon. Everything has jumped way below top 100 whereas I have real author, all the legal notices,....except for the backlinks, everything is clean for EAT......

What are you saying. Do you really think 300 rivals advanced the same day at the same hour ?
Do the rival desindex my pages ?
Go back to Google support forum if you want to say BS.

You answered the question yourself: "BUT many websites in front of me are way worse, EAT-wise".

Same for my site. Some articles of mine dropped from Page 1 to nowhere. But on page 2 and 3 is total crap (inclusive google books).

What i meant to say was, The rank may get dropped but ofcourse not suddenly. May be analyzing backlink strategy you can get rid off it. And yes one of my colleague had met the same issue and rectified it.

You have no idea what we're talking about. We totally disappeared overnight. This is not a "slight drop" because of our rivals.

Still fixed at 15% of previous traffic. No more no less. Seems like a some limit.

For me I lost 100% traffic in two websites (still indexed with command site), in other two I have around 10-15% remained traffic. One website remain inalterated and one website increased around 20%. Thats my balance.

If all of your sites got bit, there must be a pattern?

In my case my English, German and French sites got hit badly but Spanish one is doing very well, like nothing ever happened. They are very similar, same niches.

Finnally i lost 100% of traffic, from 30K monthly to 0... My site still indexed if i search with "site:" command but not ranking any keyword anymore. Two years hard work to the trash...

That's crazy, i feel sorry for you :(

Do you target a "risky" niche ? (YMYL for example)

Not YMYL, is a travel website.
I guess i know why happened, seems that in the past (2017), my domain was a "chinese spammy site".
I have registered on Feb 2018 and started my travel site from zero but seems Google doesn't care...

Same situation:
Italy, french and Germany websites got hit drastically, spanish increased a lot

Guys I checked my webmaster tool for the websites that got hit and all websites have in the "mobile app usability" section lost all page since 7 January. Many websites passed from 500 pages to 10-15 pages, without any errors. Did you see also this for your websites that got hit?

Weird stuff, I honestly don't know what's going on anymore. Do any of you guys have something similar in Google Search Console when you go to Mobile Usability to this:

BtfPRnK

I'm talking about the huge dropoff starting January 8th.
