Sudden Ranked Drop? Google Algo Update?

Guys, I noticed something. On January 7th, one day before all this shit went down, someone copied all my content on a web 2.0 site. Can you guys do a search for your own content to see if someone has copied it, maybe this is causing the problems?

I can't believe that Google is still so stupid. My content is getting deindexed now while the content on this web 2.0 is getting indexed, it's ridiculous.
How do I check that?

I think still haven't stable, these few days mess up again organic traffic drop , whereas last week seem recovering back.

My websites that was hit in the december update since this night lost even more visits, now I have like 10% traffic that I was in november. Other websites that wasn't hit in the december update is still ok, or some of this increased a bit.

as usual guess depend on the niche
what niche you in which never get affected?

One of my articles was completely deindexed, tried submitting it for indexing via GSC, it appeared on its original position for 30 minutes or so and it's gone again...wtf?

Hmmm, I now see bing ( SE) main page, ranking in an adult niche. I kid you not!

Guys, who has a problem, please don't forget to support such kind of threads on google webmaster forum, other people also have the same issues:

https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/25122529?hl=en
https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/25213989?hl=en
https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/23097178?hl=en

I don't know what can we do better than show how many people were affected, and that it's real serious issue.

The answers those OP's receive is just ridiculous. I dunno what kind of dumbheads they are, but I almost believe they just do that on purpose for whatever reason.

Not sure if I should start laughing or crying. Her reply:

"the reason why that page isn't ranking is because it isn't indexed (as I mentioned). You need to find out why it was deindexed.

Have you run the URL through the URL Inspection Tool?

Right now, don't get distracted by theories and algorithms, etc. You have a page that was ranking and now it's deindexed. You need to focus on that. (Like, if I could put that statement in red and huge letters, I would. LOL)"

Its ridiculous. So basically Google fucked up and this women now tries to blame the webmaster? Everyone else in this thread wrote "Oh, same problem here" and then she says "don't get distracted by theories and algorithms" please what? What is she trying to say? That everyone else is stupid and Google just works normally? Is she living in a parallel universe where Google works fine? Or maybe the last time she had websites was in 10 years ago?

That's because Google is a monopoly.

Just search for a piece of your content with quotations around it (like this "put a long sentence of your article here and search for it in Google").
Wow. My three best articles (10K or even more visitors per month each) are deindexed and when I search for content I find tons of duplicate sites from Eastern Europe on page 1. What to do against this?

Hey @tammyblogger,

Are your sites still in a bad place?

I had a look at some of my main competitors in a few niches which had not been hit and noticed that they had dropped a few paid adds on various sites which I had replicated, and also their KW ratios were LOW and I mean non existent, all branding and generic. So as I had nothing to lose, I changed my adds to brand only for 2 sites as a test and both have bounced back to better than pre-update positions.

My main money site is still 75% down, so having made the same changes a couple of days ago, I am waiting to see if it kicks in similarly, will let you know.

Just thought I would update you, as we both seem to be in a different update scenario to the main December changes, and perhaps it might help.

I don't know man, it's insane. I have no idea what's going on, this is not normal at all. Can other people run a similar test for their deindexed pages?

I've just checked, my content is still unique, but I have another issue, I can't understand why GSC shows one of my main pages as "Not in index", but I can find it in google by copying text from it...

I changed a few days ago content on this page, then manually sent it to reindex, and it recovered at the same positions as before hit, it was there 2 days, and then dropped, "Not in index", but if I write site:<this page> I see it on Google...

Weird stuff, I honestly don't know what's going on anymore. Do any of you guys have something similar in Google Search Console when you go to Mobile Usability to this:

I'm talking about the huge dropoff starting January 8th.

Here is the weird thing, my keywords are ranking as they were before, I just lost clicks and impressions. Here is an example of one of my posts, ranking from today and clicks and impressions Jan 6th vs Jan 8th

abc.jpg

I think that's some kind of algorithmic penalty that limits impressions and clicks. The only thing I can think about is web 2.0 links I created in Nov. and used my blogger account added to my GSC to index them. Technically there were no links on my blogger pointing to my money site, there were only links to the web 2.0 with links to my main site. I'll be removing all the web 2.0 links (about 100 in total) today and see if it helps.

If you think that's something else feel free to comment.

No, everything growths smoothly as before

Yes still in the same place not much improvement perhaps a little but nothing to get excited about. Few other sites dropped in the last update as well, I still have a few ranking and doing ok but I wonder to myself for how long? but conversions nowadays are slow to non-existent. Its soul destroying to watch it, I had 5 really good years I keep reminding myself of that and you adjust your income to suit at they times but hey ho I don't think this will last, well I hope not anyway.

That's good news about your testing, I hope that keeps up for you when you say paid adds are you meaning you bought some adds on the same sites your competitors were on and have just started using all brand generic keywords?

Yes keep me posted on your money site and if that bounces back to that's interesting about the other ones.

It's just a testing and trial and error process now. I do think this will settle down at some point but when is the million $ question!

I think look at what is ranking where you used to, is it parasites? and if so replicate it ( worked for me with some niches) even if just a temp measure till this settles down a bit. I don't know, I'm up for everything and anything in the testing process!

In one of my niches where I no longer exist domain wise but I am back via a parasite its full of hacked sites, twub, youtube and someone with sites that just redirect to dating sites and then my parasite and we are talking for volumes of over 15k

What I don't get is why has google ranked sites like that in niches with high volume? I can honestly say I don't see that volume reflected in my stats but they are some decent keywords that were full of tube sites for as long back as I can remember. I don't have tube sites but I always know where they are ranking when I am researching for keywords and I know a lot of them are wiped out for certain words and parasites in its place so I think its time to feed google the nonsense it so desperately seems to crave.

It's so messed up it really is.

They have scraped this right back to the bare bones to start testing and at what point do they think to themselves they have scraped back too far now?

They are a bunch of bullies on that forum I used to read it and honestly it would make me so mad at how they would speak to people. It's pathetic
