I have done research for topics, and I do intend to make videos on topics that haven't been covered yet, but for that I gotta finish up with the basics.
However, my research is manual, no tools used. I don't have any paid tools as of now. I was hoping that content would be enough lol
I am trying to keep my chin up as I make more videos. Takes me two full days to complete one lecture.
Totally understood your point. I don't have an impressive resume, however, I have taught students IRL, both in school and college. So, I do know how to teach. But yeah, that's not gonna impress anyone lol
I will upload a complete course on Udemy and offer it for free as you suggested, hopefully that will help me get popular.
However, I don't plan to make paid content ever, will udemy be okay with me posting free content?

What I would suggest:
- Use Tubebuddy to analyze tag score & competition
- Tweak thumbnail and include bigger fonts
- Use Udemy as a serving source to boost reach or compile your content into a course and give it away.
- Answer related questions in Quora and place links intermittently
- Use search terms like 'Android development' or anything related in YT, and filter results within the past week. This way you'll be able to discern what type of content is booming.

It's definitely a competitive niche so you have to somehow try to stand out.
If I was you I'd work on thumbnails and titles.
Here's an example of one of your videos:

Try to think about what your audience might be searching for. You can use autofil as well to see possible options.
Your thumbnails also need to be more catchy. They all look the same. Also I wouldn't numerize your titles and rather just create a playlist where people can watch all parts if they want.

I will definitely research about uploading free content on Udemy for better reach.
I started answering questions on Quora today, but I started off with an answer on SEO instead of focusing on my niche. I will start focusing on Android Development specific questions now.'
I do type in keywords manually and check what's showing up, and for my region, most uploaders make uncomprehensive lectures. I am trying to create comprehensive lectures for the same.
Do lemme know about TubeBuddy though?

Got your point on title, silly of me not to do it from the start, having worked in the field of SEO for over a year, I should have known better. lmao
Titles with How-to rank better, coz that's how users search! Point noted!
I will redo my thumbs and titles from scratch. Topic will have a bolder/bigger font. Titles will start with How-to wherever possible!

One thing that came to mind just now: how about competitors - do you know some channels that are already successful? A good way to come up with new video ideas for me was to search for competitors‘ successful videos and do a video on the same topic. This way you might get suggested to their audience.

That is an excellent advise, but since I am currently creating a video sequence, which must follow a particular order to make sense, I cannot start doing that yet.
However, as soon as I start working on projects, I will research on the kinda projects that get massive engagements, not just on youtube, but spaces like github and stackoverflow, and then build around that.
The thing is, even though I started my channel around Android development, I have experience with Web and Desktop development too. I have spent most of my life learning all types of development.
Started with Java, then C and C++, then Python, JS, etc. I have the least experience in Kotlin, but it seemed like a better bet coz there are too many java centric videos. lol

You want views and subs. Why? What are you planning to do with that? How do you plan to get money out of this?
I think you should start thinking about this and then about the content.
Then how to improve the videos CTR and watchtime.
Now you have things aligned to make a sustentable project out of the channel.

To be honest, I did not start this channel for money, I love teaching and I always wanted to have a YouTube channel.
The thing is, I am 32, and I quit cigarettes in October of 2019, after smoking for over a decade, that's why my lips are dark. lol
Shortly after I started getting Anxiety and panic attacks. After struggling for almost a year, I went to a doctor last August.
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder. I have been taking meds since. Things improved within 2 months and even though I do have minor anxiety issues, they are few and rare.
At one point, I was suicidal, and after I started recovering, I was overjoyed. It was that joy which led me to get rid of my fear of camera and start this channel.
I learned Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, and then set everything up and started practicing. It was more like a mental health activity, which will now be my full time job.
I think ad revenue would be sufficient for me, or maybe some merch in future if I get that popular. Patreon too? I have setup everything, including twitch, to use later.

As for YT and the algo, I really don't know much. Have you tried promoting your videos on Reddit? Some of the popular subreddits for Android dev are r/androiddev, r/AndroidStudio, r/android_devs, r/Kotlin and the likes.
