Should I Continue a Site with No Growth?

I'm doing a blog related to engineering. Over the last two years I have published over 50 articles. This is the current status of the site.

Here is the story:​

  • I have wrote and published 59 articles myself
  • I haven't done any link building because I don't have the capital to spend. (I'm an engineering student living with an extremely little budget.)
  • I get little bit of traffic from Quora as well
The site doesn't perform as I expected. I want to improve this site to earn $500 per month which can cover my expenses. So, I have 3 ideas.
  1. Rewrite the existing articles and fill more content
  2. Publish 100 or 150 articles
  3. Wait and see
Do you have any other suggestions? Or am I following a mirage?

Look at those pages that aren't doing well or doing poorly, improve their content.
Check your GSC for keywords you're getting search impression for but haven't covered well, write content for them.

Look at the sites you are ranking above, your site is stronger than them in some aspect, so get topic and keyword ideas from them and write for keywords they are ranking for.

Interlink your posts more, link from better performing pages to poor performing pages, you could do this manually since you have just under 60 posts.

I would recommend you get Semrush trial account even if for just 7 days, use it to do keyword research which you could use it improve your already written content as well as write new content. Semrush would make your job a lot easier. Trial accounts don't cost much, maybe $10 for a 30 days access.

Great goal to have. $500 monthly is huge but I think you're on the right track. Personally, I wouldn't try to publish MORE, just improve what's already there. Unless you want to pivot your niche style. Sometimes 75% or so of traffic and earnings may come from 20% of your pages. I'm sure you know that though. Like some others mentioned, link all your stuff together, look at the performance of good AND bad pages to see what you can adjust. Maybe get feedback from others too, do the eyeball test from an outsider and see what they think.

But based on your options: I'd prioritize rewriting instead of writing more. OR... do more free style marketing for your page and see if your existing stuff is just waiting for a better audience.

One thing is pretty clear. Your Keyword Research is good because DR 1 sites don't get 2k traffic easily.
If you can you make multiple sites and manage them. You can easily reach 500 in a few sites on ezoic.
I am suggesting something different because you should use what you are good at. :)
 
If a site is not showing good traffic and growth in 16 months, 99% of times it is not going to work now. Start a new project.
 
I think your website has a big upside, that is the time 2 years
Nice growth graph. You have only 50 articles but over 30 keywords in top 3. That is a good sign.
Honestly, I want you to continue
- learn more about keyword research
- write a longer articles, more articles ( 50 is very small to a new blog, you must publish 300 high qualified articles before deciding quiting your site)
- Remove ezoic now, too crazy to add ezoic at this time, It gets your site low while a litte money can be made
- concentrate on contents
- Publish publish publish

You need to remember that 5 ok articles are a lot better than 1 great article. Write decent articles in a level that allows you to publish more. Later, update those who perform well.

I don't know what I'd do if I were in your place. Sometimes dropping a project is the best thing you can do. You can try to sell it and use the funds to start a new project or you can make a choice to go all in and give this site everything you've got for a few months to see how it grows.
 
Publish more quality in your site. 50 post for a 16 month site is generally low. Improve on your articles and do interlinking.

Worst thing to do would be to let it sit and wait for a miracle. If you don't have the time or will to continue working on it, sell it.
If you do have the time and will to work on it, apply a number of suggestions from other commenters:

1. Write more and write regularly. 50-60 in two years is not much.
2. Analyse the existing traffic and see what posts can be upgraded to get more traffic.
3. See if you can improve on-page SEO and do internal linking.
4. Get some backlinks. I know you said you don't have the budget for it, but if you have the time, use that as your capital for some guest posts and other types of backlinks you can get without paying.

An alternative would be to start a new project that will help you get to $500 a month but keep this one alive and going by publishing an article every 1-2 weeks.

No, abandon the site and do something else. Sometimes you need to move on.
 
I would say give it another try. Rewrite the existing articles and create new ones to post regularly. Fix the On-Page issues if present.

Well many dreams were killed because people stop when it was most paintful .In that situation if people go just a little more they will find the gold .This its life ,gold its just after a step of your biggest failure .Thats way succesful people succed ,they dont know to give up
 
You have to update your website. Then it will grow.
 
The site has many possibilities. I would refer to not dropping it. Keep going mate @harrywilliams
