Seo and Blogspot backlinking

Hey BHW,

I really need help with this because I'm well confused as of now, and sorry if this has been asked already. I Just don't know what this subject would be under. Anyway I created blogger sites when I was in Philippines and only now decided to rank them with SEO back here in the UK. When I check them here the ending keeps switching from ".com" to "co.uk". And when I try to see if Google has indexed the url with "co.uk" nothing seems to come up, but when I check it with ".com" I'm indexed on google.

So should I be backling for the URL ending in ".com" or ".co.uk".

Hey thanks for replying. Just checked your thread and it seems you didn't have any luck.

From my point of view it would make sense to rank it from the country the blogger site was initially created.

When I type in the URL into google search for the ".co.uk" nothing comes up but when I change it to ".com" my site shows up on first position which tells me the site is indexed for that url "keyword.com" rather than "keyword.co.uk". I just need a little more confirmation on this because I'm not 100% sure.

Plus I would also think that ranking a ".co.uk" would be more beneficial if your target audience was more from the UK. ".com" on the other hand is more diverse and targets more countries.

Blogspot auto redirects TLDs depending on your location. I backlinked a blogspot for .com, and it ranked for the same keyword in the UK with co.uk TLD. So if you want to rank in the UK, I would backlink the co.uk TLD. It should index then.

It depends where you want to rank.

If global use .com if uk, use .co.uk

Thanks guys. I've decided to stick with my gut feeling and backlink to "keyword.com" as I can see google has indexed my site for that url. Also from what you guys have said and the confirmation I needed:

"So if you want to rank in the UK, I would backlink the co.uk TLD."
