No you said that you consider yourself a guru because you have helped over 300 people. So why would you need to ask people's opinions on this, when the answer is obviously that links are most important.

No it ain't obvious to many people, even you are wrong, i would say content is THE most important, without relevant & unique content, no point in having high no .of Backlinks.
if you have enough quality content, people make it popular, and backlinks would be a boost,
but without relevant & unique content, backlink is a waste of time & a temporary strategy.

Let's just take a step back here. You asked a question "
What's THE most important factor to rank faster"
Then you declare guruship, and then you are trying to convince people that the answer to your question is that you rank faster with quality content.
Oh and quality content has nothing to do with long lasting ranks. You can get slapped to fuck with quality content and on page. You see you may think you are coming across as a guru repeating the dross from like minded guru blogs, but you are just failing to prove that guruship.

My question was - What's THE most important factor to rank faster & longer in Google ?
longer here i meant long lasting, i never said anywhere that content is the only important factor, its THE Most important, for faster as well as long lasting results,
oh yeah there is something called organic links which mainly comes from relevant original content & user truly appreciating the info elsewhere,
likewise you will really get f**ked up if not now, sure soon, if you just work on quality links with poor content, though u have high DA & PA links, poor content leads to high Bounce rate as user won't find value in your page, hope you know what happens next.
