I am curious to know if anyone has done a press release for their website? Have they used any services? I am not familiar with them at all, but I have been seeing that for some people who used a press release, their website would show up on Google's AI Summary. I have no experience with press releases, so any information would help.

Also is it even worth doing one?
Yes definitely. Since google's new shift to AI overview, press releases from high authority sites get more and more attention.

For one of my recent clients, I searched an AI platform for their brand. Interestingly, the only results that appeared were third-party guest posts and press releases I had created for them. This highlights the immense importance of having your brand or activities mentioned on reputable third-party sites.

Google often places more trust in information published by others than in what you say on your own website. It’s almost ironic — as if getting others to talk about you carries more weight than saying it yourself.

A press release can help with brand visibility and sometimes indirectly with SEO, but it’s not a guaranteed ticket to showing up in Google’s AI Summary. Many people use distribution services like PRWeb, EIN Presswire, or Newswire, which syndicate your release to multiple sites. The key is making sure your press release has genuinely newsworthy content, optimized headlines, and backlinks to your site. If you’re just starting, you might test with a smaller, cheaper service to see results before investing heavily.

If done right and distributed through a good service, they can help you get picked up by news sites, which might boost your chances of showing in Google’s AI summaries.
How can you ensure your press release is distributed through a good service and picked up?

Press releases can help with visibility if done right. Use a trusted service, write newsworthy content, and target relevant media outlets.

What do i need to look out for when it comes to choosing a service? Is this something I can go and find on fiverr or another freelancing website?

I’ve used press releases a couple of times, mostly to get quick brand mentions and authority signals. They can help with visibility, but the impact really depends on the distribution network and how newsworthy your content is. If done right, you can land on reputable sites, which sometimes get picked up in AI summaries, but it’s not guaranteed.

I haven’t used press releases myself, but I’ve seen quite a few case studies where they were mainly used to get a quick burst of backlinks from news sites. The consensus seems to be that they work best for announcements that actually have a story angle, launches, major updates, partnerships, not just generic SEO content. If you’re aiming for AI summary visibility, it looks more like a side effect than a guaranteed outcome.

Press releases can still work if done right but they’re more about authority and trust than direct SEO boosts these days. Good distribution can get you on hundreds of news sites which sometimes helps with brand mentions and even Google’s AI summaries if the topic is timely.

It really depends. When was the last time you saw something pointless (not irrelevant to you personally, just generally pointless) get any coverage, let alone a press release? Unless you do some real pioneering or you're website/blog is especially interesting, reputable outlets won't even give you the time of day. And it has to be reputable outlets, otherwise if it's just John so-and-so's news outlet, Google isn't likely to consider it for summaries.

PR do bring a major boost in website performance. Here is my two cents
- use excellent content which aligns with your marketing goals
- focus on good pr website only

I tested a few free pr websites, does not bring much of results. I try to avoid those.

It was a press release distribution service that handled submitting to multiple news sites at once. There are plenty out there, but the key is choosing one with reputable media outlets in their network, not just low-quality blogs.

Yes, press releases can help with visibility and backlinks if distributed through reputable services
They work best when tied to real news/events Google may pick them up, but don’t expect guaranteed al summary inclusion

Press releases are a great way to share important updates about your business, products, or services with a wide audience. By distributing them through a reliable platform like PRWeb.in, you can get your news featured on top-tier media sites, which not only boosts your brand visibility but also helps build high-quality backlinks naturally. This can improve your website’s traffic and support your SEO efforts without relying on spammy tactics.

yes it is worth doing in and will give you real benefits if the content on your site is also good

The real value is getting your brand mentioned on legit news sites that Google actually trusts. Cheap blast to 500 outlets packages mostly end up on low quality pages that don’t stick.
