Hello,

I'm interested in running a geofencing campaign in Google Ads, and I have some questions regarding the process.

Is there a tool to do this, or within Google Ads, do I just set up different campaigns and set "boundaries" between areas or streets?

For example, I have a company with 5 stores in the same city. I want each store to only appear to users in its respective area based on their location.

My question is: Do I need to create 5 different campaigns with 5 geofencing areas, or is there a simpler way to achieve this?

Thank you in advance for your help!

If you have a point on google map of your stores (google my busoness) you need to create an ads account and link google ads and google my business services. Then you will be able to use local campaigns in google ads.

These campaigns are what you are looking for because they are shown to users close to the location of your stores. You can add multiple addresses to the campaign and use them all in one place. In addition, you can specify keyword topics to search for your products or services.

Yep you’ll need 5 separate campaigns or ad sets with custom radius targeting around each store for true geofencing in Google Ads.

Best practice:
separate campaigns → one for each store → clean data, custom ad copy per location.
Simpler setup (less control): 1 campaign with 5 location-specific ad groups → set location targeting per ad group (but this is more limited and less transparent in reporting).

If you want granular control and optimized results per store, go with separate campaigns.

Use Google Ads built in location targeting. Draw a radius or add Location Groups for each store. Put each store’s geofence in its own ad group instead of five campaigns.

Yeah man, just run 5 separate campaigns with radius targeting for each store, that’s how you keep control and track performance cleanly.

Yeah, you can run 5 separate campaigns, but it's easier to manage if you set up 1 campaign with 5 ad groups -each with its own geofenced area (drop pin + radius). Keeps things organized and works great for store-specific targeting.

From my experience, the simplest approach is to use Google Ads’ built-in geo-targeting. You can create separate campaigns or ad groups and use the include/exclude location pins to outline the exact areas each store should cover. No external tools are really needed unless you’re doing advanced geofencing.

Setting up 5 separate geo-targeted campaigns (or tightly controlled ad groups) is usually the cleanest way to keep each store’s ads limited to its own area.

You’ll need separate campaigns or at least separate location targets per store, Google doesn’t really do true street level geofencing so you manage it by splitting locations.

you can create one campaign and use "location groups" with your linked google business profile to target all 5 stores, but splitting them into 5 campaigns is better if you want to control the budget for each store individually.
