Question about Backlink Juice

Hello there,

I'm currently in the process of building some quality backlinks for my site by writing guest posts to related niche sites.

I read somewhere that the more links there are in the guest post the more the link juice is spread and divided across those links, so if in my guest post article there are 2 links, one for Wikipedia, and the other to my money page, i'm assuming the link juice sent to my site would be 50%.

So I'm thinking from now on to set only one link on my guest posts, and even perhaps reaching out to my existing backlinks and requesting that they remove the other outbound links so i can get the maximum of link juice.

Having said that, I'm seeking your professional counsel, I have two questions:

1. Can you confirm that link juice is indeed spread/divided by the number of outbound and inbound links?

2. If I leave only one link per article that is redirecting to my money page, can that be picked up as a spamming tactic by Google, and eventually penalize?

This is all speculation. No one knows for sure except Google engineers at the top. I remember MOZ doing some kind of study back in 2013 but that is also speculation. If I were you, I would not bother with quantifying and just do whatever comes naturally, that is, write relevant guest posts and leave a link if it "feels" natural.

agree with the above.


@kurosaki4d - even if someone was able to test this out using single variable testing, google algo has changed. a new AI is in works.

don't bother with previous guest posts.

one thing that my own tests showed: creating outbound link to wikipedia was more of negative than positive. if you want to create an outbound link to an authority site, pick something else besides wikipedia.

for my own work: if I control the guest post, i would put a link to an authority site that is not competing with me.
