Private Servers on Web Hosts

Hi Everyone,
Would anyone know of a host that has good services for Private Servers? I'm with the so called WallMart of hosts on a shared server and have been told that I am using too much bandwidth in my current form of operation to be on a shared server. There service plans for a private server are about $35 month. Is this a good deal or can I find significantly cheaper? I don't have too much experience in database work but I'm sure I can learn so I would need a little phone support from the host. I dont' know.... Is it even worth transferring the site?

How much bandwidth are you using? But if your using that much bandwidth then move up to a plan with more bandwidth. Why get a private server? Unless they are also telling you are using to much resources which I bet is more the case with an auto approval directory.

As far as private servers goes, you can get a VPS for cheaper than $35 but more than likely it won't be managed so you got to do everything your self. And your support is going to be limited and if anything be backend only.
