About a different screen, it depends on the version. The screen you have vs. the screen you see in the tutorial are from different versions. I just nulled the version that @Festinger gave me (v0.5.15), but I honestly don't know what is the latest version or what version is in the tutorial you mentioned.
About not making links, I would need to wait for other users to see if they are experiencing the same issue. It worked fine on my test server and I only removed the licensing part which is not related to the functions of the plugin for adding links. But looks like the plugin has its issues with visual builders.
This is form the author:
Does Link Whisper insert links in existing content?
Sorry, but you’ll have to go into each piece of existing content, scroll down to the Link Whisper area and insert the links. It’s not going to create links sitewide for you, but you don’t want it to. If that’s what you want, this is not the plugin for you.
Will the links built disappear if/when Link Whisper is deactivated?
If you build the links in the post using the default WordPress classic editor, your links will remain in place in the event you deactivate the plugin. But, you must go into settings and opt to have the links built into the default WordPress visual editor. I do this because I want the links permanent.
If, however, you build links in a page builder like Thrive Architect, Elementor, Beaver Builder or Visual Composer, you will lose your links if you deactivate the plugin.
This is yet another of many reasons to avoid custom page builders for most content. They have their place for specific landing pages but IMO avoided for regular blog content – they simply cause too many problems for high-content sites.
Thanks zilog357,
Yeah, unfortunately my experience seems like it just isn't working correctly. I did exactly as described above using Elementor. I tried to add links via their "Report" that lists all the posts on your site. I also went into the individual post and tried to do it via their recommended link building section. None of it worked even though when I submitted the link test, it popped up a visualization saying "Success" or something like that. When I'd refresh the post, the link wasn't live.
Interesting enough, I deactivated Elementor and then used it. It worked and the links were live. However, as soon as I reactivated Elementor - the links were gone. So frustrating because it worked out great ....just not with Elementor.
