PayPal Limited. Please Help

To keep the story short. I had a really bad password for my Paypal, so i inevitably got hacked. Yesterday in my email, paypal emailed me saying that there was unusual activity on my paypal as they picked up some weird IP from overseas. Also there was an unauthorized transaction for $75 send from my account. This money has been refund as i opened up complaint.

Now, tho my account is limited so i can't send money out. To get out of being limited i have changed my password and security questions but i have to verify my Identity.

OK, now here is the issue, i don't use my real name for paypal. So i emailed paypal and said that i don't have credit card to verify my ID. So they change the option to a Photo ID verification upload.

Now my question is do i upload some fake ID or should i just get onto paypal and say that it is just a fake name because i like my privacy such as when buying porn or something ??

I don't understand why you would use a fake name for you paypal account in the first place.

If you get caught using fake information you can just say goodbye to your account.

If you can make a fake ID then go for it, but you have to understand that if paypal thinks you're trying to get the money out of the account and you're not the original user then the account will stay limited.

That was your first mistake in using a fake name. I mean, you can call them - they always answer their phones. Expect it to take anywhere from 5-15 minutes though depending on how busy they are.

Yeh, i know using a fake name was stupid. I've already flamed myself for that. I was just wondering if there was something i could do.

Try the fake ID, but be sure its a good fake one or you'll get busted. Upload in as low resolution as possible.

It's actually very easy to photoshop a good fake. I wouldn't tell PayPal it's a fake name if you want to keep your account. I've sent in a modified driver's license before and it worked smoothly. Just make sure it looks spot on. Good luck

My advice if you will go with fake id , be carefull about Photoshop may leave some footprints..Also delete info in file properties.

You don't know me but take my advice on this: in your type of verification, they will check the details of your photo ID; in other words, if you sent them a "fake" ID, they will run the license number through a credit check (see PayPal's TOS it's in there). So in other words, you shot yourself in the foot by admitting to them you don't have a credit card of some kind to verify your ID.

You could have purchased a pre-paid card, went to the card's website, logged in the credit card number then filled in your "name" and it would have matched when PayPal ran it.

So as it stands now, your situation is in their system and once you send an ID in -- any ID in -- the drone will put the info in and hit "enter" and the system will take over and verify your details with a third party information bank; which you will fail.

I've dealt with this issue a lot and as it stands, you're in a corner. I believe this account is lost.

Your money will be held for 6 months after which you'll get the chance to withdraw the amount to your bank account without having to verify your real identity.

Why don't you make a new paypal account? And just send or transfer the funds of your fake account? It would be much easier and safer, and also if you make another fake account, be sure that you have a good fake Identity or else you'll end up busted for sure.

Good idea and good point, BUT...

Here's why it wouldn't work: because the account can't be verified with a legit ID (or an ID that can match the name on the account), the account will REMAIN on limited status forever.

But, at the end of 6 months from the date the account was limited, PayPal will let the account holder withdraw the money VIA BANK TRANSFER or SENT A CHECK TO THE ACCOUNT HOLDER'S ADDRESS ON FILE WITH PAYPAL. In other words, there's NO CHANCE that the funds could be transferred to another account. Cuz the account is limited (and will stay that way) the system won't let you make any purchases with the balance nor transfer any portion of the balance to another PayPal user. It sucks yeah but that's the rules of the game as played by PayPal.

It's strictly one way at this point. The account stays limited forever, that's a given and the money stays, too or it gets transfered by bank or check to the account holder.
