New Semantic Google Search - End of Search Engine Optimisation?

I would be really happy if google stopped to count backlinks to rank sites. My content is quality and I had to start blackhat only because their stupid algo, based on something what worked in 1999.
 
Most searches cannot be answered by semantic search...Semantic search is good for searches where the user is asking a specific question and there one best answer, like 2+2 = 4...or what is the height of kilamanjaro?

so, yes semantic search will affect a certain percentage of searches, but that will be a small percentage, probably less than 15%...
 
Yeah, semantic search is already implemented as a base in Wolfram Alpha

I am really confused on which I should work on right now. I guess the best way is just do everything naturally - like my friends did with their page - no any BH, shady stuff and now after 4 months they have PR4 :)
 
HOLY HELL......

SEO HAS BEEN DYING FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS.

But yet, somehow, each and every year SEO is still going just as strong.

Here's the point, SEO will evolve into whatever mediums necessary. That's EXACTLY what SEO is all about. If it's social signals, if its backlinks, if its content, it doesn't matter. As long as their are search engines (or equivalents) that are built on algorithms, you can bet your ass there will be people trying to figure out how to get to the top.
 
So, not only will you have to be competing with companies for ranking, exposure and clicks in Google, but you're competing against Google itself. And users aren't going to leave something familiar like a result page to go to a website they've never heard of before.

The number of queries is endless, the way people speak and ask questions is different from one person to another. Google cant create its own content for each and every query and will have to rely on what other people wrote. The thing is - they cant steal what other people wrote, so I doubt we will be competing against Google.

And if we assume that the semantic search will be a huge success, it only means you will need to concentrate more on on-site SEO and less on off-site.

But honestly, I doubt their semantic search will be too popular at the next 5 years - it takes time to create a good algorithm.
