I'm going to start a new site. These are the hosting companies that I have tried before:

    HostGator
    GoDaddy
    Namecheap
    PowerUpHosting

Should I stick to one of them or do you have something better in mind? For content writing, what are some excellent themes and which plugins should I install? I'm also wondering if I should get a .com extension.

    Thanks~!

OP try Poweruphosting, Sharkservers. Both have good support. For domains, there is only one site in the world "namesilo.com"

Lol, I actually bought my domain earlier today from Namesilo and got that free Whois privacy. I'm a bit confused with all of these shared hosting, reseller and dedicated hosting. Getting slightly overwhelmed figuring out why I even need an SSD VPS or any of that other stuff. Isn't unlimited bandwidth enough for a regular blog site?

If you're still looking for hosting, why don't you give it a try to podracks?

It has an offer now for like $6.5($7.8 in my case with VAT). I tested them for 30 days and they're not bad at all(actually they're pretty good imo). You won't be dissapointed. Be careful that you're limited at only one domain.

He's pretty underated to be honest.

Https://beget.com/ the largest and most stable hosting in the CIS with a very democratic price policy

It gives 30 days trial for any tariff plan

Only if you're experienced with servers. They don't give support for 3rd party aplications (wordpress etc..) eventhough you can choose a pre-installed package vps with it. Otherwise, they are superb! Really inovative company, I love them.

Go with iPage if you plan to stick around for a year only (thats the case for almost all big companies, they offer cheap 1year hosting+domain, but the 2nd year is hell). iPage has the best support i've dealt with till now, and very good and serious company.

+1 for DO, but only if you're happy setting up and maintaining your own server. For the performance/price ratio, it beats pretty much every web hosting company. It comes with a dedicated IP and you can set letsencypt up for a free SSL.

    And Namecheap for registering domains.

All done. Now I have to wait for Namesilo customer support to get on and explain why they have that silly 60 day policy for domain transfers. Guess I'll go do something else in the meantime. Thanks, guys. :3

Why do you want to transfer your domain away from Namesilo? You can use it with whatever hosting provider you chose, even if it's still registered with Namesilo.

Because everything I do is a first time thing. I used to pay for domain names and hosting sites without ever hearing about the difference in VPS speeds. Hell, I'm still not sure about a lot of that stuff. When PowerUpHosting asked me which plan I wanted, I was confused, lol. I ended up going with the standard package for all my sites.

I have this amazing talent for reading an entire book on a certain subject and then realizing that I only paid attention to 5, maybe 10% of it. I used to know stuff that I forgot. Then I learned it again, only to forget it later... again.

I personally use servikus shared hosting for my 6 sites and it is good compared to price range.

I'm already writing stuff but I keep changing my theme and need to relearn it.

What would be a good FREE WP theme for video game reviews?

I'm looking for something that has header menus, allows full-width pages, 2 sidebars and a footer which I can use for my disclaimer. Some themes have only 1 or more of these things and the rest require a bit of CSS/HTML knowledge to use properly.

I'm also looking for a decent plugin to change the font and font size on each page, but the plugins I tried mainly changed things globally, not individually. I forgot the plugin name I used on my previous site. Can no longer log in to check. Forgot the username and pass, lol.

Host on your own? Its probably cheapest if you can forward your port
