So I am working for a tech startup where my aim is to grow its reddit presence and bring some organic traffic to the company's website. The aim is not to generate sales but to create word of mouth and genuine presence across internet and platforms.

I want few inputs on how and what should be my approach for this.

Q1. Should I use a anonymous account for this focus initially on karma building and then subtle mentions or startups name push?
Q2. Should I create a fully disclosed company account and share capabilities about the platform without links and non-salesly things?

Consider me as someone new in that domain and help me with whatever inputs you have.

I'd go with a transparent company account instead of pretending to be a regular user. People on Reddit usually spot disguised marketing pretty quickly.

Spend most of your time answering questions, sharing useful insights, and joining discussions without trying to promote the product. Once you've built some credibility, occasional mentions of your startup will feel much more natural.

One of the most commonly used marketing strategies is seeding, which involves using multiple social media accounts to generate discussions and reviews about your company's products. In addition to Reddit, platforms such as Facebook, X, Tumblr, and Pinterest can also be highly effective.

If your goal is to build a genuine Reddit presence, then you should focus on becoming a valuable contributor first. A direct promotional approach usually gets ignored or downvoted because Reddit users are very sensitive to marketing. I think a good approach would be
  • Spending the first few weeks understanding community rules, conversations and user requirements.
  • Building credibility by commenting on existing discussions before creating posts.
  • Sharing knowledge, case studies and solutions rather then promotional content.

You could as well spread the words across various communities and not just Reddit alone
Since the aim is to.make.it.a household name
