Hello BHW,

We want to rank well on Google. Google's search console shows the site's performance, manual action, and other SEO things. Then, why there is a need for the 3rd party tool like Moz?

I'm not familiar with Majestic or other tools.

But people are concerned about PA, DA and Spam score instead of traffic. Assume that you get a link (paid or natural) from Forbes. It may be a d0/n0 follow. When the link is indexed in the Moz tool. It will say that your site has got a link from a spammy site. Is Forbes a spam site?

People who have a clue for SEO doesnt care for the metrics of their own websites, except if they sell guest post. However when you are looking to buy links and you need to sort out 10k websites, metrics are quite useful although I prefer to use Ahrefs DR/RD and traffic estimate as DA is notoriously easy to trick and Moz index is quite bad. Also their spam score is a joke.

Moz is just trying to figure out Google's ranking algorithm since eternity. After the fall of PR, people are looking for a metric to compare websites and DA is the only free metric that is popular and freely available. If someone manages to create a metric that is close to SERPs, then DA will be dead.

Just don't bother about the spam score. I have sites with legit links, and the spam score is still higher than 0%. Who the fuck cares about it? Noobs mostly.

I personally think it is to the point. Nowadays, every seo guy and his grandma is trying to get a backlink in forbes. Due to these spammy articles, the spam score is high. Forbes will still be alright, because of the authority they have.

Edit: btw, read this, and scroll down to the 27 signals that they use to detect the spam score.

Moz is the God of search engine. Google is the little brother :p

Ya! But ppls are accepting words from a popular expert like Rand.
For that tweet, followers are liking and retweet it.

Actually, I am waiting for an answer from Forbes and Moz. Let's see.

DA/PA and more, the spam score is a bit a joke if you deal with websites.
The semrush bots and Ahrefs bots are much better and efficient than Moz, so if you really need a metric, select those

For your personal choices (ex. selecting domains for PBNs) you shouldn't really care about third-party metrics. However, the worst thing is that most of the people who buy links still look after DA. I have seen a change lately though where they base that on organic traffic which in my opinion is much better.

yeah, and I still have some people that want backlinks with Google PR7 :weep::weep:
