Moving HTML to Wordpress (with a twist)

Hey gang,

I have a client who has 2 fully established sites for his business (no idea why). One site is HTML and the other is Wordpress. My client is doing fairly well with his rankings but he wants the HTML site to go away and his Wordpress site to be the only site online.

Could I just copy all of the articles and information from his HTML and merge it with his Wordpress site, then just delete the HTML site? Technically, he doesn't even need anything from the HTML site.

What's the best process you would take when moving HTML to Wordpress with 2 different domains?

just make a 301 permanent redirect on your server from the HTML to the wordpress sites
each induvidual URL, eventually google will drop the HTML site , thats my 2 cents, never done it before though

Just FTP up the new folder to the root directory after removing the html ones. Unless the wordpress site is on another server and IP. In that case just point DNS at the new wordpress site.

If the client doesn't want anything from that html site, why do you want to push some articles from there to the WP? Get this clear first with your client. I think he knows better about this issue, based on your inputs here...

If the client wants to keep the domain that the HTML template is on (could be because of branding/marketing invested in that domain, whatever), then you can:

copy the articles to text files
delete the HTML content
Install (and set up) WordPress
301 Redirect the current WordPress domain to the [old html/new WordPress] domain
re-create the articles that you saved as text files as Posts
Install a plugin by the name of 404 Redirected By Weberz Hosting
Input 301 redirects for each of the old [HTML articles'] URLs to the new [WordPress Posts'] URLs

If the client wants to keep the WordPress domain, then just do as Watsonovedades suggested and 301 redirect the HTML domain to the WordPress domain and you're set to go.

Having said that, I'd suggest looking at which domain is "healthier" based on domain age, PR, Alexa Rank, DA, etc., etc., and suggesting that domain to the client for the obvious reasons that it'd be easier for you to promote that domain later on.

edit: I just re-read your question (Sorry, it's midnight here) and I've run into quite a few tech-ignorant people that miss-communicate quite a bit... You should clarify if he wants the HTML Domain to go away, or the HTML Content to be replaced by the WordPress. The reason for this is as I stated above, he/she might have branding that they've done for that

HTML:

 domain already (i.e. Business Cards, T-Shirts, Ads, etc.).

My client wanted the domain to go away but he wanted the leftover content to go on the Wordpress site and domain. Sorry if that was confusing.
