I recently had a small but successful journey in the form of a quiz site.
I wanted to break down each step I personally took to reach profitability and things that I recommend doing right out of the gate from lessons learned.

Set up:
[ ]Hosting
[ ]Domain
[ ]CMS(for this example we will use wordpress)
[ ]Social accounts (FB group, FB page, reddit, pinterest, twitter)

Niche selection:
Honestly this doesn't matter to me that much cause theres always people willing to test their knowledge vs your quiz. There are know it alls in ever niche and we are targeting those guys. Not so smart now are they?

Wordpress:
I recommend using the Quize' plugin (shout out to @se900se for a good product)
Now I did not do ANYTHING for SEO as google seems to hate quiz sites but thats okay. We are targeting social traffic anyways.
Make sure to link all your social profiles in your sites footer and what not, and enable the sharing option at the end of the quiz.
My personal preference for the quizes themselves is 10-20 questions, to make them all I do is look up a topic in my niche on wikipedia and ask about things in the article there.
I recommend using a plug in like the SNAP plugin to auto post to your socials.
To start off make sure you have at least 10-20 quizzes on your site. (the more the better)
I like to install some analytics plug ins too so i get a better idea of my audience but thats not 100% required.
After you have all that set up apply to ad networks. I personally am using hooligan media atm but you can make your own choices.
I also write conclusion articles for my quizzes and link affiliate products in them just to boost earnings.

Facebook pixel:
So for this I wanted to make it it's own section because of how vital a role it has played in my success. So reaching the final page of a specific quiz is an event. Literally every quiz on my site has a complete event on my pixel and yours needs that for your site too.

Initial Traffic:
My journey started off bumpy with my first ad account with facebook getting banned. Don't make the same mistake I did, make your social accounts first, build you FB page and post all your quizzes, make a group(join some too) and share some niche related content, make a subreddit, post all your quizzes to pinterest. Start to form your social platform, then buy social signals(theres plenty of suppliers here on BHW for that) so your content gets shared "naturally" and get some initial traffic.

Re-targeting Traffic:
Now that you have some traffic coming in from your social signals its time to make ads.
Facebook Ads:
I find the best converting ads are gifs or 3-5 second videos (fb ads treats them the same way) with a cycle of images from your quiz and a call to action built right into the image itself with a caption along the lines of the average user only gets X right, what about you? Or something cheesy along those lines.
The target audience should be a look alike of the people who completed the quiz you pulled your images from.
Thats it. Thats all I did with facebook ads. (and they are profitable for me)

I have not yet played around with any other advertising platform but if I were to I would first look at bing, I know it might seem weird to some
but hear me out, you get $100 free with the right referral codes(which are super easy to find) and the audience there is older and easier to target IMO.

So if you wanted to just leave this set up as is you could and just sit back and let FB work for you, which I am currently doing and making profit(small but profit is profit) or you could continue to build quizzes and expand your site. Either way its a valid way to do things and will bring you some cash.

I know a lot of people have struggled with quiz sites with all the dead journey threads and I just hoped to give people are more detailed look into how you can profit from them.

Best of luck fellas.

Nice one, mate. This will definitely be useful to those who choose to go this route.

Be careful, Facebook is stopping FB pixel's soon.
Never relie on anything.
Only mention it as your heavy on FB.

Very strange not find articles on pixel being stopped sorry I was told this from another marketer very weird, as he a author as well.

Please ignore my pixel news until I prove it.

Spin the wheel man. Hit a random thing, find an applicable niche and go.

This sounds great. I was thinking about doing something like this myself as a fun hobby. How do you profit from paid Facebook ads into users? What's your average cost per click and what's your average profit per user?
