I haven't seen many posts here talking about tumblr so I thought I would throw this out there for people who may be looking for ideas. This is SUPER simple and took about an hour of my time 3-4 times per week for about two months. (If you are doing the math, that is about $30/hour) I have repeated this several times over the past year and made money each time.

    Here are the steps,

-- Choose a niche that you find interesting. Create a new tumblr blog.

-- Make sure that you spend some time choosing a GOOD name that is both descriptive and seo friendly. This is important!

-- Choose a user and SEO friendly theme. This is important!

-- Choose an avatar that is easy to see in small thumbnail form, represents your niche, and makes people want to click on it.

-- Every day, spend ONE hour browsing tumblr and reblogging content that fits your niche. Reblogging other people's content is easier than getting it off your computer and helps increase your followers.

-- Follow every tumblr blog that you reblog from as well as all related blogs that you find. Helps increase your followers and helps you find new content.

-- When you blog/reblog, Be sure to put your tumblr url in the "Clicking this photo links to the URL" box. Replace whatever link is in there with YOUR tumblr url. This creates backlinks to your tumblr blog whenever someone else reblogs you and helps increase your followers.

-- When you blog/reblog, comment appropriately, using keywords that fit your niche and the photo. (Basic SEO, and also creates backlinks to your tumblr blog whenever someone else reblogs you and helps increase your followers.)

-- When you blog/reblog, select "Add to queue" instead of publish now and set your blog to publish 6-10 times per day, depending on how much you have in your queue. This allows you to have 2-3 months of content posting on autopilot.

-- When you blog/reblog, use tags to categorize your content. This helps to keep people on your blog longer.

-- If you feel ambitious, you can ping out your individual posts or do scrapebox blasts for them.

-- After you have a decent amount of content and follower base built up find an affiliate or CPA that fits your niche.

-- DONT plaster your tumble blog with banners and ads! Unless you have already found that to be effective and know how to do it without driving people away.

-- Select banners that fit your niche and blog feel well and put one or two of them on the theme for your tumblr blog

-- Every so often, instead of putting your blog URL in the "Clicking this photo links to the URL" box when you reblog, put your affiliate link in instead. I usually shorten the link (bitly or similar) with a custom short url that fits the niche and affiliate. Many affiliates have free content that you can use to promote them and landing pages tailored to that specific content.

-- Once you have built up a few thousand followers and are ranking well on google, sell your tumblr blog. You will continue to get affiliate traffic from the old posts that are still being reblogged by others and you will make a good chunk of change for the blog.

This is a very basic, repeatable, and easy way to make some cash. I am sure there are parts that I left out and parts that can be improved upon but there you are.... Go do it.

so you don't need your own content? just reblog other people's posts? How is this going to rank you with dupe content?
You made that much money from one blog over two months?

Sounds like wordpress-lite. However, I am seeing a key element here that would help exponentially:

Treat the little guy cms sites with respect and find a whole new base of unshagged clickers. Mind, once shagged, the walk of shame will keep them away...

How many blogs do you have? Did you made this amount of money with 1 blog?

Tumblr is notorious for their zero spam/junk policy, it takes only 1 report for an admin to look
at your tumblr blog and deem it "garbage/promotional" and delete it, along with all your hard work.

Keep that in mind before investing days/hours in to making one..

Do you currently have any tumblr blog you'd like to sell? Or do you happen to know where one could buy tumblr blogs? Haven't found any source for it.

Very interesting... But my question is, how in the world do you sell a tumblr account?

So you are just picking random posts and making the link go to your CPA ads once you build a high volume of followers/traffic?

I am also in the market for a tumblr bot if anyone has any leads or has one themselves, I would also like to know how you can sell a tumblr blog? I have to admit I've never heard of this before and am intrigued!

Tumblr is probably 75% dupe content. Still ranks. All of my comments and tags are original though. That may make a difference. The blog I am currently working on is raked 7 in google for its 2 word, very competitive (233mil) keyword. The majority of the money is made from selling the blog. Affiliate and CPA income is secondary until traffic gets higher.

No. My niches have been very targeted. I have been focusing on quality, hand picked content. Bots have a hard time doing that part and making relevant comments/tags. At some point I may try a broader focused blog that a bot may work on.

I have two active blogs. I have sold three. This $ amount was the best one.

Blog 1: made no affiliate income & sold for $200. Had about 2K followers
Blog 2: made $185 affiliate income over 2 months & sold for $750. Had about 2500 daily visitors and 6K followers.
Blog 3: made $35 in affiliate income & sold for $350. Had about about 800 daily visitors and 2K followers.

I am certain that had I worked the blogs longer I could have gotten more money for them.

Which is why I do all of my comments and tags by hand. It only takes a few seconds for each one.

Very true. This is also why I space out the affiliate links among the posts and keep the theme nice and clean.

how long did it take you to build up followers?

I had a tumblr in the past, just for personal fun, and it took me a couple weeks to get only 200 followers...

You sell a tumblr account like any other account. Give the new owner the login email and password and they change it after they take control. I sold all of them on craigslist.

Yes and No. I am hand picking posts from people I follow, content from my affiliates, and a some of my own content. ALL of the content is specifically targeted to a specific niche. None of it is random. And once I get enough traffic, I start to mix in the ads and affiliate links. Affiliates are also chosen for relevancy to the specific niches.

Perhaps.... I am trying some new things on my main tumblr blog right now and want to see how they work out. But I could be coerced if the price was right.

Yes, the first thousand or so come pretty quickly. Then things slow down a little. I think that ranking on google helped a LOT and you do need to be smart about how you promote yourself within tumblr.

Basic, easy and good cash :) If I only had taken action on methods like these when I started with IM I would have been a very rich man now.

Well, I learned after a while.
