I said that it could be as low as 2700 which I was wrong slightly it would be 2880 at minimum,at the most it would be around 8640. Which could bring the the costs to $20 million/year in wages if you outsource it to a country like Moldova.
8640 is if it took 1:1,but come on its not going to be nearly 1:1 for the vast majority of content that are uploaded to youtube. from 5:48pm to 5:49 I did one search which led me to more videos,and found 13 1/2 minutes of content that infringed copyrights. So it could be even lower then 2880 possibly.
I do believe you're completely missing the point here, firstly it would require work to train all of the workers, if they outsource the work then you're more likely to get bad workers / lazy workers (that is a matter of fact). Why do you think so many people complain when companies outsource their call centers and such?
It's not simply a process like :
- Watch video for 30 seconds.
- Delete if it contains content.
It is more like this :
- Have a list, for each worker, constantly updating as new videos are added.
- Go through each video at a time, they WOULD have to look through the ENTIRE video if they find no copyright within it...example, 1 hour video, the copyrighted material could be as far as 59 minutes into it, same for 10 minute videos.
- So it's a BARE MINIMUM of 30 seconds per video BUT MOST would be at least 3minutes + worth of watching per worker, sometimes it could be an entire hour.
- Then after they find any copyrighted material they have to make sure they actually need to take it down or if it falls into the "fair use" category.
Then there of course would be EVEN MORE to the process...
You're telling me you could outsource that work and train all of them to do it...?
No it's not possible, even with enough people to not only manage them but also train them, you would still need a far greater amount then what you think. You would need at the very least 10,000 workers if not 20,000, then you would also need to manage, train, educate them. I said it once and I will say it again, it is not a possibility.
It is not as simple as find 10,000 possibly 20,000 workers, there is training, managing, maintenance, weekly update briefs on copyright laws, including fair use policies.
MOST IMPORTANTLY THE ISSUE WITH THIS IS AS FOLLOWS :
Oh and to top everything off you would then have to make sure the workers are not abusing their powers and censoring videos that they dislike (i.e ones against religion or certain politics) you're giving these workers the power to censor so much information it's insane, then each time you find one breaking the rules, you have to follow process, give them a second chance, then if they get fired you have to replace them and train even more workers.
