Why are you as the paying customer entitled to anything more than the product which you are paying for? (I'm not. I'm paying for what I ordered, and I wasn't being a jerk when I ordered it. Therefore, I don't deserve a dose of attitude to go along with my order.)When you go to a fast food establishment, you are paying for the product, with the assumption it will be delivered promptly. If you have somehow been given the notion that ass licking is part of what you are paying for, I think I should put an end to that immediately. (NOW who is making assumptions? Again, all I want is what I ordered, which I ordered in a civil manner.)There is no mark-up in Fast Food for Customer Service. Its bare bones.
You do realize that if they quit that job and went on welfare that your taxes would go up right? (That argument is so weak, I'm not even going to dignify it with a response.) So don't you think that you should be as kind as courteous as you can to someone who is also contributing to society and not just taking from it and making YOUR life harder? (Again, you are assuming that I'm being a jerk to the cashier. I have NEVER, in my life, copped an attitude with a cashier at ANY establishment.) Just by the attitude you are having in this thread I can see the sense of entitlement you have in life and its gross. (My attitude in this thread is in direct proportion to the high and mighty attitude people like you are displaying. You seem to think that everyone is a jerk to cashiers, when that is not the case. I have no sense of entitlement for anything other than what I have worked for, and what I have paid for. And if I'm paying for what I have ordered, and been pleasant while doing so, then I deserve no such crappy attitude from someone who is pissed off at the world because their job sucks.)
You don't pay their wages. They would be just fine without you. (Oh really? My money doesn't pay their wages? Where, then, does the company get the money to pay their wages, pay for the material sold, pay the light bill, ect? The money tree out back? The Money Fairy? They get the money from me, and others like me who patronize their establishment.) If you don't think they are deserving of your money, stop spending your money there. It is as simple as that. They do NOT owe you any more than your product as fast as reasonably possible. Don't try to tell others how to do their job. That is for MANAGEMENT to do, NOT the customer. (You are absolutely right. I can take my business elsewhere. And what do you suppose would happen, when myself, and all the other customers take our business elsewhere, when we get tired of the crappy attitudes from the employees, and management not doing their jobs to correct that attitude? They fold. Then, I suppose, according to your logic, that it would be my fault that they lost their jobs and ended up on welfare, all because I wouldn't tolerate their crappy attitude.)
Why do customers feel they can tell an employee how to do their job? If someone is not doing their job properly, they will be fired. (As they should be.) If they are doing an adequate job, they will continue to have it. (Rather pathetic when "adequate" translates to doing a good job.) I don't pay $1.39 for a cheeseburger and expect it to be served with a smile. You bet your ass I appreciate it when it comes with a smile but I do not think that is what I am paying for, its a bonus that is welcomed anytime. ( I could care less if it comes with a smile or not. I do, however, care that I get what I paid for, without an attitude of the cashier thinking they are doing me a favor for delivering what I paid for.)
If someone is just being rude to you, then you need to make a decision whether you want to continue giving them your business while they employ that person. (That is a given. If they are being rude, they will not see me, or my money, ever again.) If its your personal opinion that you are paying for a pleasant and cheerful attitude in addition to your coffee, and you are not receiving that, then just get your coffee somewhere else. (See above, I just want what I paid for, nothing more, nothing less.) If every other place makes you feel the same way, then its obviously an issue with YOU and not them. (You certainly like to assume a lot, don't you? Did I say everyplace makes me feel that way? No, I did not.)
Bottom line, don't try to tell someone else how to do their job. (I wouldn't dream of it. But I will be more than happy to tell their supervisor that their cashier is a rude jerk, if warranted.)
That isn't your place as a customer. You are not their boss. (Oh, yes, I most certainly am. And you obviously can't figure out why, so I'll enlighten your young mind. I AM their boss, and the sole reason they exist. They exist to supply a service or product that they want me to purchase. They want my money, and it is my decision as to whether or not they get it. If they don't get that money from me, and others like me, they are out of business. Period. And, as a customer, all I want for my money is the service or product they are offering. I don't need a smile, I don't want my ass kissed, I just want what I am paying for, without rudeness. If that is too much for the employee to handle, then they won't get my business. If it is more important for that company to retain a rude employee, than it is to keep the customer (the supplier of money for that business) satisfied, then that is certainly a business that I don't need to patronize.)
