I rarely go to McDonalds because there's only 3 things i'd order on their
menu and 2 of them are drinks(1 being their cokes)

Paypal account was running a bit low so i decided i'd pay for it in cash..
didn't want to break a five so i borrowed a massive quanity of change

Knowing the beverage i was purchasing was around 2.89 i got that in change

1st thing is the screen outside isn't being used so i have to pull up to the 1st window i get there and she says 3.06 (which i still think isn't the correct price)

but i add two dimes and hand her the change

She opens the window after 2-3minutes of counting (Given it's mostly quarters and dimes a few nickles and 2-3 pennies) and tells me i'm a dollar short

I get pissed and tell her no i actually gave more than the total by 3 cents
She says she doesn't want to count it again closes the window, dumps the change in the drawer and my drink is waiting at the next window..

I can understand if you don't enjoy history or science but please at least learn "Street Smarts" Basic money math so that even if you end up dealing drugs or selling your body you don't get ripped off

she was 16/17 even the stupidest people should know street math

The Education in America doesn't want to teach personal finance and business math. They focus too much on subjects that will not help you in real life, because they have to prepare you for college.

This is also the reason why there is so much problems in America with the rich getting richer, while the poor and lower class getting poorer.

To be honest there is no excuse for some peoples , self-learning / self-improving is a MUST for any human ! The education system may be wrong , over there , actually over the time was proven there is nothing like '' perfect society '' . In europe well eastern europe actually on first grades teachers made us to write hundreds of pages per week , just to take the fkin lessons ( true most of them worthless ) but ... at least we learn something damn it . Kids on this days prefer to turn on their smartphones to record the teachers on the class lmao ... this I don't see like a good thing .

The thing with rich getting richer is because none never will invest any penny without getting profit ~! :) it's normal it's the sense of investment .

someone said '' knowledge is power '' :) and I think have right :)

I always get dirty looks when I give change at Tim Hortons to buy a coffee. Nobody can count anymore, they rely on the cash registers to tell them every cent that they need to take/give back.

Don't get me started on teenagers trying to spell.

Where the hell do you live? Any McDonalds around where I live, any size drink is $1.00.

$3.00 for a fracking coke? You're kidding hopefully.

This is why McDonald's came up with the Dollar menu. Everything cost a dollar + tax.

I get that when I go to pay for something that is, say, $2.12, and I give them $5.12 (To get rid of the change in my pocket, and so I can get 3 singles back, and not a bunch of coins weighing down my pocket.)

First I get the blank look. You can see their thought process. "Why did he do that?"

Then, the annoyed look. "Why is he making me have to think?"

Then, the pissed-off look. "He's making me look stupid."

All I can do at this point is wonder, what is this cashier going to do if that screen on the register suddenly decides to go blank. I could tell them they owe me $30 back, and they wouldn't know any different.

It really is sad to see what our society has come to.

"McDonalds cashiers can't count"

Maybe that's why they are working at McDonald's in the first place :)

Change isn't really too important. It costs too much to make it. A nickel is actually worth 7 cents in copper. A penny is worth 1.2 cents in zinc and the old copper pennies pre-1982 are worth 2 cents in copper. I think if change were really important, they would have automatic change counting machines.

All I can say is that McDonalds better hope like hell that the dollar doesn't crash and people start using $1 coins. Haha!

I wonder how some of these people would do in the military? You need to count everything down to the last bullets etc.

I love how basically not 1 person in here has given the Cashier the benefit of the doubt of "Making a Mistake". Have you ever worked in Fast Food? It gets freakin busy and overwhelming. You don't know if people were yelling at them in the background confusing them and making them lose count.

Bunch of assholes in here it seems like. I am sure nobody has EVER made a mistake before.

This guy obviously didn't make a mistake, he just doesn't know how to spell:
butt i add two dimes
And this guy obviously never learned basic grammar because he didn't say the the poor and lower class ARE getting poorer (and even that doesn't sound correct.):
the rich getting richer, while the poor and lower class getting poorer.

Nobody makes mistakes. Nobody gets confused. Everyone is either 100% perfect or mentally retarded and lacking proper education. Piss off.

When I use change I count it out for them and separate the different coins. It makes it easy for both of us and I don't have to depend on someones math skills.

If you had done that maybe she wouldn't have had her friend at the second window spit in your coke.

They work at Mcdonalds. People working there are usually stupid as shit or have been in prison for quite a while.

not cool to say man. doesnt mean 1 person is an idiot means the whole group is.

In our country most of the people working on McD are working students who are working part time to pay for their tuition and based on the people i know people who are working for their school payments are the smartest.

in the OP's case one time or another we all experience that shitty cashier no matter where you buy

The replies amuse me, especially the ones defending the cashier
Do people make mistakes?,yes,
This thread was put in the lounge because it's a pointless rant
and the only reason i bring it up is because she told me that i had shorted her, then she shorts me and says she doesn't feel like counting it and closes the window on me with an attitude,if she recounted it and acknowledged her mistake, there'd be no issue,is 3 cents going to make a difference? no but i could have put it in the donation box had i gotten it and it's simply the principle

Also before anyone things i live in a third world country i was getting a frozen beverage though i do enjoy their cokes

you just can't expect anything anymore from customer service, especially places like mcdonalds, I had a manager one time hand me a dipped cone that was about to fall off the cone from leaning so bad, asked if i could have another one because it was falling off, I mean as soon as I would have had the first lick boom it would have fell, and he throws it in the trash and just slams the window, 2 minutes later a cashier hands me a new one and slams the window again. i called the district manager on that store because i'm tried of the attitudes from customer service. It wasn't until i went in the store to get the district manager's number that the manager on duty wanted to apologize and act like i was a customer he wanted to help. jeez.

i know everyone has hard days but i'm a very respectable person, the please and thank you type, i would at least like to have a please and thank you in return so i know you how feel when someone comes at you sideways with attitudes.

and yes shows like jersey shore are to blame, lol
