Hello everyone, I have recently started making apps, or actually games for android. I have sold my first big one recently for $500 (I have sold the licence to the game) and I think it's good, because from 160 reviews on google play it has an average grade of 4.5 (no 1 or 2 stars, and only reason I got 3 stars is because it has few levels, but I am working on that). Now, I would like to become more serious about this, I will learn how to programm in Java and make apps in eclipse. So far I've been using flash air, but it has too much problems. I am posting this here because I am wondering if it's viable to start working in this industry now? There are too many apps and games now, and too many programmers, and I am not really good at promoting the apps because I don't have much money to invest...

i love making games, not because of money, but for fun and well I learn a lot of stuffs. I would suggest you to go for game making softwares like game maker, construct 2 etc. All of them have a free version, to try them before you actually buy them. This will make your developement process much faster. Now a days one trend is going on very nicely whenever you make a game, make an android version, html 5 version and ios version(if you can afford their developer's fee). If you nedd any help feel free to contact me :)

Good work on selling the licence for 500 - takes effort! I would swing away from native games for android though - stick with html5 like C2, if you use it right (and it seems like you do) and using CocoonJS you're one game isnt limited to just android but ios, windows, blackberry etc. Toggle in CocoonJS extensions for ads, then keep an add free version availble to buy for 69p ($.99) so long as your games are good, people will be the ad free version.

Try to market the free version as much as you can, perhaps make a dev blog website of all your upcoming games and make videos to put on youtube, exposure is key!

    Hey there,
I've actually just released a no coding platform that allows you to make 3 types of apps

    1) Flash games into Android apps
    2) .GIF files into live wallpapers
    and
    3) MP3s into ringtone apps.

It's FREE to use, all online, and has a built in ad-serving portal to generate revenue.

    APKgen

check it out and let me know if this helps
